I'm a retired naval officer, attorney, judge, social worker. That means I have some time to host others' palates with good, healthy food (although often in too hearty portions).
My favorite things to cook
Give me an idea what you want to eat, and I'll try to come up with a tasty, eye-appealing offering.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Southwestern US bbq beef brisket; pork ribs; pan-fried Idaho trout; Alaska halibut, Cordova Red salmon, King Crab, oysters from near Homer, Alaska, and Penn Cove mussels; roast leg of lamb (bone-in) with herb-mustard sauce). Turkey with dressing and cranberry salad.
My cooking triumphs
Chocolate souffles; bananas Foster; cherries jubilee; home-churned ice cream in a White Mountain 6 qt. freezer.
My cooking tragedies
I'm sure that someone will remember these, but none come to mind right now, except the time that my sisters and I baked a chocolate pie with meringue for which we forgot to add sugar. Yecch! Mother came back to town wondering where the dozen eggs that had been in the fridge disappeared.
