Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2010
I used only the marinade part of the recipe. It knocked my socks off. I found one but I'm still looking for the other... It may have joined its brethren departed from the clothes dryer. My wife liked it too, as did our unborn child. Thanks to the recipe author for a wonderful evening.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
This is very similar to the sloppy joe recipe I cobbled together from various other recipes. The only differences are that I add some Worcestershire sauce, and I use tomato paste instead of ketchup. It's delicious.

Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
I left out the italian seasoning and oregano because I wanted a sweeter taste. My wife raved about how soft they were. Don't ask me what that means.

Chili Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
Just what I was looking for. I used tomato paste + water as the base. Also I replaced the allspice with paprika (I ran out of chili powder) and added some tabasco sauce. Furthermore, I boiled it in a saucepan for a few minutes to meld the flavors together. I know it seems like I am rating an entirely different recipe, but this got me going in the right direction, and for that I tip my hat.

Tzatziki II

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
I didn't have mint or cucumber. So basically I ended up with garlic flavor yogurt. I added extra garlic to compensate. My coworkers are not happy with this development.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
Doesn't taste like the "classic" casserole made with cream of mushroom soup; and with all that butter, it's not really any healthier either. Even evaluating it on its own merits (shocking, I know), it's not quite my cup of tea - I don't think the flavors of the green beans and the sour cream go together. My wife and unborn child seemed to like it, though, which is why I am giving it 3 stars instead of less. I mean no offense to the author of this recipe, I just want to warn people that if they're looking for a from-scratch version of green bean casserole, this might not be it.

General Tsao's Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
Really tasty. I first made this with just the breaded chicken, and used it in a stir fry with some bottled sauce to save time. It was good. The second time I made the sauce as well and it was even better. This gets better every time I make it. Tastes fine without the MSG. I always make it with broccoli.

Paprika Chicken with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
Simple, quick, and yet quite tasty. The flavors meld together quite well, so that it's not just "paprika" but an overall flavorful dish.

Whipped Cream

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2010
If you've never made your own whipped cream you've got to try it. I usually add a tablespoon of orange liqueur as well, especially if I'll be serving it with something strawberry based.

Banana Banana Bread

This certainly does not compromise the banana falvor. The only thing that would be more bananas would be a raw banana with a light dusting of flour.

Applesauce

I had no idea making applesauce could be this simple! I do plan to leave out the sugar next time - of course it depends on what kind of apple you use, but I found it every so slightly too sweet.

Quinoa

A great recipe. At the last minute I got too lazy to open the cans of corn and black beans so I left them out. I crossed out "and Black Beans" on the printout first to make sure it would be ok. It still came out yummy! My wife has asked for me to make it again every day since.

Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
This is a recipe I made by taking the best of three or four popper recipes and combining them to make something that tastes wonderful. My wife asks me to make extra cream cheese mixture for "testing."
