About this Cook
Mom of hungry boys and a hungry husband. Full time teacher pursuing PhD, so these days Quick and Easy is my game.
My favorite things to cook
Brasilian feijoada e couve a mineira, shrimp scampi, cranberry pie, braided sprouted wheat bread, to get around the globe a bit...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking at the holidays with my mom using both my gramma's handwritten recipes from the 1920s, red velvet cake on birthdays, amazing deviled eggs...
My cooking triumphs
My 70+ Spanish host mom, Julia, declared my gazpacho andaluz "not bad", which, for a Spaniard, is pretty complimentary!
My cooking tragedies
Never tamper with old recipes, if it says lard, use lard. If you're worried about calories or fat, DON'T USE GRAM'S RECIPES!!! Find another one!

Hummus III
Double thumbs up from our Palestinian exchange student following Hesatone's suggestions. Bravo!

City Chicken
This recipe took me back 40 years to Gramma's house in Brecksville, OH on Sunday afternoons. I did it in an electric skillet, didn't have skewers, so simply turned the cubes over with tongs. My uninitiated husband and kids LOVED IT! Definitely a repeater!

Buttery Cranberry Pie
I have been making this pie for a VERY long time. You can use 1/2 the sugar by doing 1/2 splenda if it makes you feel better!?!?! My guys LOVE this pie with a dollop of Edy's Swiss Orange ice cream-sherbet with flecks of dark chocolate!! It is so popular with my friends and family that I am only invited anywhere between Nov-Jan if I bring at least one!
