Quick Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2013
DELICIOUS! threw some spinach in that i needed to get rid of soon, tasted great. seems like the kind of recipe that's flexible enough to add whatever you've got lying around - mushrooms or other things you're wanting to use up.

Cheryl's Spinach Cheesy Pasta Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2013
really easy recipe to make, and my very picky boyfriend loved it. i usually like to try stuff exactly as the recipe states the first time around, but since some reviews stated it can be kind of bland i did add 1 teaspoon each of the following: onion powder, garlic powder, and italian seasoning just in case. it tasted good but i'll definitely up the seasonings next time or perhaps try the recommendations to cook and season fresh spinach. will definitely make again though.

Chef John's Spaghetti alla Carbonara

good but tasted a little too "eggy". also too much black pepper for my tastes. would make again before final decision to add to my rotating menu or not

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2013
a little bland for me personally, perhaps with different cheeses? i'd like to try it with only sharp cheddar. i also found it didn't reheat very well.

Easy to make exactly as stated and pretty good tasting, but could definitely use some more spices/flavor. Will make again and throw in some user suggestions.

delicious! as suggested before me, cut the garlic salt in half or they may wind up too salty. will definitely make again.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
delicious! even better the next day after sitting for a while. made exactly as stated, but i wasn't sure if light red kidney beans are the same as white cannellini beans but it's all i could find so i used it and it was great. with some homemade cornbread - great! the original yield makes plenty and it freezes well. the boyfriend (who is the pickiest eater EVER) loved it. will definitely make again.

Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2012
i made it exactly as the recipe stated and i really enjoyed it. the only thing i didn't do was peel the tomatoes, just chopped 'em up with skin on and threw 'em in. i was a little worried at first about tasting all the veggies - i know i need them but i'm still a child at heart who doesn't always want to taste them... but they meshed together really well. i think i will take the advice of some other reviews in the future and add more chicken stock as my boyfriend and i both felt it wasn't "soupy" enough. also maybe try some different beans because these stood out too much for me. but will definitely make again.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
delicious!! chocolate cookies are my achilles heel - they never come out right. these however were amazing and were gone before lunch time. i doubled the recipe since i was cooking for my class, and as per other suggestions used room temperature eggs, melted and cooled butter, and refrigerated over night. the only reason i give these 4 instead of 5 stars is because they're best fresh out of the oven. i cooked them in the evening around 8 or 9pm, and the next morning @ 7am they were significantly harder. still softer than normal chocolate chip cookies in the middle and i got no complaints; just wish they would've stayed as soft and chewy for longer than a couple hours. i wonder if all the butter was the cause of that...

Three-Cheese Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2010
have mercy this was good! i forgot to add the butter which i think made the potatoes stick to the foil a little bit but not too much; they still came off pretty clean. i omitted the chives because i didn't have any and i'm glad i did because the onion was just enough for me. anything more and it would've been overkill for my personal tastes. oh and this recipe yields a HUGE amount! far more than four servings...

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
i followed the exact recipe minus the cayenne pepper as i can't handle things too spicy, and i used creole seasoning as opposed to cajun seasoning because it's what i had on hand. flavor wise it was great! and the sausage had just enough kick for me - the cayenne would've killed me! i cooked it 4 1/2 hours on high, adding the shrimp at 3 1/2 hours and 2 cups of rice at 4 hours. it was too soupy for me, thus why i added the rice on recommendation from other reviewers. the rice definitely soaked up the liquid, however i think it soaked it up too much and the rice ended up mushy. so maybe more rice would solve that problem however i don't know that my crockpot could hold much more! next time i'll omit either the chicken broth or the juice from the tomoatoes to make it less soupy, probably still add the rice in as i like the flavored rice but perhaps more of it, and i'll use raw shrimp as opposed to cooked because i think raw shrimp holds more flavor. i'll have to try it again with these changes and hopefully boost up my rating...

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
LOVE. SO good. I followed the recipe ingredients exactly (except I halved it) and took advice from other reviews and boiled the sauce on the stove top first to thicken it a little. Then I poured it over the chicken, tossed/coated the pieces well, and put it in the oven to cook and turned them halfway through. So good that I ate too much!! Will definitely make again and again and again....

Scalloped Cheese Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
this came out really well! and it's really easy to make. i followed the recipe exactly as listed except for the cheese - all i had on hand was kraft slices so i just tore it up into little pieces and spread it throughout the dish and it worked great. like others mentioned before me, the butter was a bit much so next time i'll use less butter, and would also like to try incorporating a different cheeses and switching up the type of soups.

Becki's Oven Barbecue Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
even though i only used half the ketchup based on everyone else's reviews, it still tasted too ketchup like for me. i like more of a thick, tangy, mesquite barbecue like flavor, and this was just too... light for me i guess. but i tasted it halfway through and caught it so i added some soy sauce as well as some honey flavored bbq sauce i had in the fridge (which i didn't like for the same reason - not tangy, mesquite enough) and it helped tremendously for me. i guess it all depends on what kind of sauce you like though...

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
REALLY good! good enough that i need not ever buy them from anywhere ever again! didn't have any cream of tartar - used 4tsp of lemon juice instead. no complaints here. delicious! will make again... oh also i was using two different cookie sheets - one dark and one light - it seemed to take twice as long for them to cook on the light sheet. i don't know if that's... normal but thought it worth mentioning! p.s. i upped these to 5 stars after sitting on them for a couple days. they're WONDERFUL!

Garlic Chicken Fragrant Rice On a Budget

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
this rice was really good, although i didn't taste much garlic. however i used minced garlic because i had it on hand as opposed to the smashed garlic - maybe that's what made a difference? anyhow, still good and i'll definitely make it again, with more garlic next time!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
very good! cooked it at 375 for 35 minutes, then put it in the broiler for about 2.5/3 minutes on each side to brown it. i'd definitely make it again, and probably add more garlic! because i love garlic and didn't really taste it that much. oh and keep an eye on the chicken in the broiler so it doesn't burn!

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
made this a few weeks ago and everybody LOVED them!!! i did as suggested in other reviews and kinda swiped the bacon in the brown sugar before i rolled the smokies, plus sprinkled extra brown sugar on top at the end. DELICIOUS!!! i only wish it weren't so messy to clean up! but it's so good it's worth the mess! will defintely make again.
