Grandmother's Old Fashioned Butter Roll

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2013
I am officially in a food coma! My mother in law said she made it and so I decided to see what was all the fuss about. I'm glad I did :D I made it twice; once as written and once with evaporated milk. The evaporated milk is better...It lends a caramel rich taste. This is real.home.cooking. Thanks!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Left out raisins. These are fab just they way they are. Bake them the recommended time because they're supposed to be crunchy. (I think)

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
This is good soup! I used frozen onion, bell pepper and celery mix. Added roughly chopped baby carrots, and peeled the apple. I didn't have chicken stock so I added 4 bullion cubes. I also added the rice at the same time with the frozen veggies to save time. I already had left over chicken breast from the night before. From start to finish, it took approximately 25 minutes. Delish!!!!

Five Flavor Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
This cake is so good but a little to sweet. Next time I will make these adjustments: Cut the Sugar to 2 1/2 cups and beat the egg yolks until pale and beat the egg whites until soft peaks form, then fold them into the batter. This makes for a not so pound of a pound cake.

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2010
This was the best Quiche I have ever made. Adjustments that I made was to use 1.) only 5 eggs 2.)a splash of white wine and 1/8 tsp of nutmeg to the egg mixture. 3.) I pulsed the mixture in a blender to incorporate a bit of air. These two 9 inch deep dish pies are light and delicious.

Ciabatta

Reviewed: May 12, 2010
Good Bread! I don't have a stone, so I just baked the loaves on the center rack for 22 minutes at 425 with a pan of water on the bottom rack. I also sprayed the loaves with water during the last 5 min of cooking. Turned out so crusty and awesome! These would make great pizzas if you split them lengthwise.

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
I usually don't care for peanut-buttery stuff, but these are good and addictive. I melted the butter with the peanut butter and put approx 1 3/4 cups graham cracker crumbs instead of 2 cups. Popped the pan in the FREEZER for 10 minutes or so, then added the chocolate. After that I let the chocolate harden and cut them in bite sized pieces. Holds together great. For those of you who have trouble getting them out of the pan, dip the pan in warm water for 30-60 secs before cutting;works like a charm.

Slow Cooker Reuben Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2010
Good recipe. I used smoked brisket and I didn't have any swiss. My husband didn't even know it had kraut or cream cheese in it. ( He doesnt even care for "creamy stuff" but he liked this one) Ummm Ummm Good!

Baklava

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
Great recipe. My husband said he'd rather eat this than pecan pie. I used the butter flavor stuff in the can to make the process go faster. I baked at 350 for 35 minutes and it came out perfect. Will make again, for sure!

Old Bay® Shrimp Fest

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2009
When I plopped this dish down on the table, my husband gave it a wierd look as though I raided the trash for dinner. He said it looked like "hot garbage". Well, one taste and he was totally hooked. He and our children loved it. Adding a couple of fresh lemons to the brew livens this dish up. Great recipe!
