Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2013
Yuck! I have made a ton of recipes on this site with much success.these pancakes were much too moist almost doughy. I thought it sounded like a lot of banana in ratio to the flour mixture and I was correct! Will not be making these again. Much better pancake recipes on this site.

Edamame Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2013
This salad is DELICIOUS!!! We ate some right after I made it and straight out of the fridge. We at it with tortilla chips as a dip and my kids LOVED it! I have never made a recipe on here that has not been rated but so glad I did. This is already in the recipe files.

Grandma's Pear Preserves

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2013
I thought this was an excellent recipe. I just finished making it and left some in a bowl. It is setting up beautifully. My kids and I tried it on some toast and love it! I hate when changes are made to recipes on this site before making it the original way first, but after reading all the reviews and noticing a LOT of people had theirs turn out syrupy I felt I had to make adjustments. I also looked at my Mamaw's pear recipe and noticed she said to lessen the sugar if the pears were ripe. So I did this. I used 5 1/2 cups of sugar for 6 cups of pear chunks. Her original recipe said 1 cup of sugar for 1 cup of pears and someone else noted that too. I had a container of powdered pectin. I used about 5 T of pectin. I used Bartlett pears and mine were pretty ripe. I Cooked them for 10 minutes, stirred and chopped them even smaller, cooked for 10 minutes more to make them nice and tender. I then added everything else as stated. I think the spices can be adjusted according to your taste.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2013
Don't get what the few people who's recipe turned out bad did wrong. These are super easy, fluffy, and tasty. I was intrigued because of the 5 star rating and the huge number of ratings so I had to try and I'm glad I did. If it doesn't turn out right for you, better try again..because you did something wrong. Definitely add vanilla though.

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2013
This was a very easy recipe and it was delicious. There were so many people that did not cook the cake at the specified temp. I decided to follow the recipe using the low temp.and had no trouble. It only took five min. longer than the time given. I had no weird outcome with sticking it in the freezer either. Just a moist cake. I made one error and that was using 3/4 stick of butter instead of the 3/4 cup (stick and a half) oops! Still turned out delicious and moist. I used all the icing to ice the cake. A good southern banana cake needs a good pile of the sweet stuff on top. I don't get where some say it is too sweet. It is definitely not an overly sweet cake.

Real Fig Preserves

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2012
I just finished making these preserves and they were VERY flavorful. I had a little leftover after canning that I just had to taste. I had no idea what to expect since I have never eaten figs other than in fig newtons. I was pleasantly surprised. I read the other reviews about the figs being whole and being packed in the syrup and the directions noted being careful when stirring not to break apart the figs. Therefore, I worked on keeping the figs whole. They turned out just fine but next time I would stir towards the end of the cooking time and allow the figs to break open after softening. I noticed that the lovely lady who submitted the recipe had a photo of her fig preserves and they appeared to have the figs more dispersed throughout the syrup. Great recipe and pretty easy too!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2012
Loved this pie! Key lime is my favorite dessert and I am always looking for a great key lime pie recipe. This is delicious but really is better if eaten the next day or later. I planned on making the recipe as stated and thought 2 cans of milk would equal 3 cups but was a little less. That is all the milk I used however because I don't like a key lime pie that doesn't hold its shape. This amount worked perfectly. I definitely would not leave out the zest. It does give it appeal visually and a little burst of lime that is wonderful with key lime. I also made a homemade graham cracker crust. I personally just think the store bought crust doesn't compare. Finally, I took the suggestion of another reviewer and made a topping out of 1/2 cup sour cream and 1/2 cup confectioners sugar. It was delicious and worked fabulous as a topping to this pie. Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

Delicious! Was super easy and I happened to have all the ingredients on hand. I don't understand why some of the reviewers changed the recipe, it's great just as it is. My hubby LOVED this! It will be going in my recipe box!

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
I have searched and searched for a great biscuit recipe and have tried several. I am so excited about this one. It is so easy and delicious. I took the suggestion of the other reviewer and just scooped the dough and placed it on a greased cookie sheet. I brushed them with butter when they came out of the oven. They were so moist and delicious. I have yet to try them by kneading, and I know they will turn out great. I am so excited to have this recipe!!

Chicken Bryan

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
I thought briefly about giving this dish 4 stars but it is too tasty to do that. I loved it and thought it was very flavorful. I agree with the other review about the lemon being very overpowering and my husband agreed. I will definitely make this again but with half the lemons called for. I had never eaten goat cheese either and loved it on this dish.
