Oatmeal Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
I made this recipe awhile ago. I did use margerine instead of the shortening. I slightly underbaked them and they came out lovely. Unfortunately when i placed the cookies in a covered container they got too soft and stuck to each other.. oh well they were still delicious and i will definately make again the spicing was perfect.

Delilah's Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2011
The dough to these cookies were easy to work with. The cookies are kinda bland. I think they're suppose to be though. Definately needed the frosting. I'm not sure if i'll make again or try another recipe.

Cranberry Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2011
I made this a few nights ago. I used the Easy Biscuit Mixture recipe for the baking mix. I did spoon the mixture in the measuring cup. I used brown sugar in the cake because i ran out of white. I had no problem with dryness. The cake was quite moist. I did half the brown sugar and kept the cinnamon the same amount for the topping and i used half of the glaze. I didn't want an overly sweet cake. We all really enjoyed this cake.

Yellow Squash and Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
made this last night with a few minor changes. I added a bit more squash (about 1/2 -3/4 cup) I used 1 pk of splenda (to use the sweetness was perfect, anything more would have been too sweet) I used homemade baking mix (from this site) and I was out of parm so I just put a handfull of shredded chz ( i had colby jack and sprinkled more chz on top after baking.) It did take awhile to cook, it was around 55mins before i decided to take it out. It was very mushy (i'm not sure what the texture is suppose to be) but the flavor was amazing. Once it cooled it set up alot better. My bf and i really liked this dish. I'll make it again for sure.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
i made this recipe last night. I scaled it down to one serving (i had 1 apple i needed to use up) and baked it in a custard cup. Perfect size to split with my man. I did add more cinnamon, and i was kinda concerned after it was done baking it was watery, but letting it sit for a few minutes the "water" was soaked up. It was very good, very comforting dessert. I can wait till fall. I'll definately make this again.

Pancake Stack with Syrup

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
i made the pancakes and the syrup. For the pancakes i used all the baking powder that the recipe called for and had no problems. They were good pancakes. For the syrup i cooked it longer then the recipe stated. Once it cooled the syrup had the same consistency as honey (i wonder if i could use it as a sub? hmm). oh well my fault but it still tasted good. I did you margerine in place of the butter (reduced fat even) and vanilla extract instead of the rum. My kids enjoyed their breakfast and so did i. Thanks for the recipe

Egg-Free Low-Fat Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2011
if anyone who has tried to replace all the oil in a recipe with applesauce will have a clue on the texture of these cookies. When you use all applesauce it will give your cookies, bread whatever a chewy- gummy-like texture...dense also. Since i knew what to expect when i made these cookies, they are what they are. After you bake the cookies and they're cooled place in a tupperware or ziplock for and hour. The texture will improve. Simular to a cookie dough texture. Be sure to keep the bag or container opened afterward since these cookies are moist i'm sure they'll go moldy fast. I haven't tried keeping them in the fridge they don't last long. My bf likes them since they are low cal and low chloesteral and they don't hurt his diet when his sugar gets low. we both like the flavor too.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
Really good. I used 2 pkgs of reduced fat cream cheese and used reduced fat margering and about 2 1/2- 2 3/4 cups of powdered sugar. It still wasn't overly sweet but it had a great flavored. definately not for pipping but it firmed up in the fridge. Used this frosting with sam's carrots cake.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
Everyone who tried this cake loved it. My mom and step dad said it was the best carrot cake they've ever tasted. It also turned my carrot cake hating bf into a lover. Me personally I found it kinda bland but i love spice. I did make a few non dramatic changes. I left out the coconut and added 1 extra cup of carrots. I left out the nuts and just put them on the outside of the cake. I don't ever get buttermilk so i made sour milk out of fat free milk. Upped the cinnamon to a tbs. And i didn't have any small cans of pineapple so i opened a big can and scooped out cup of pineapples with juice. I baked the cake in 2 10inch round cake pans. for 25-35 mins (i don't remember sorry) I frosted with cream cheese frosting 2.

Ranch Style Popcorn Seasoning

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
i agree with the first reviewer with the taste is very "ranch like" to me anyway my bf said it tasted nothing liked ranch to him but he really liked the flavoring. He told me to make some more tomorrow night! I made a small amount of popcorn and i made the seasoning as is with the oil the spices clumped up and didn't stick to the popcorn that great. i made another batch of seasoning and left the oil out, and just sprayed the popcorn with butter spray and then tossed in the seasoning worked alot better.

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
i haven't made something like this in a long time. i really enjoyed it and my picky 7yr old liked it (my toddler wouldn't try it) anyway yes its a bit bland but its one of those "adapt to taste" recipe. I'd saute some onions but i know my kids wouldn't eat it if they saw them in their food. so i added onion powder and a bit of garlic powder and a bit more salt. I used fat free milk around 1 3/4 cups just got it to the right consistency and left out the worcestershire..never liked the stuff

Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
I made this recipe with butter flavored shortening...the dough was really crumbly. Idk if anyone else had that problem. I made half the recipe and got 18 cookies. I did slightly flatten the balls before i baked them.. They turned out nice. Also have anyone else notice that most of the snickerdoodle recipes on here are exactly the same? Snickerdoodles 1, 2 (have half the salt but still) 4, and 5. snickerdoodles 3 uses butter and mrs. siggs uses half butter half shortening..
