Bodacious Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2001
Everybody reviewed this so highly. So I was surprised when it didn't turn out. There is WAY too much red vinegar in the recipe. It overwhelmed the entire dish. I was wondering if the 1/4 cup was a typo? We threw out the entire dish.

Buster Bar Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2005
I thought this recipe was just OK. I'm not a huge nut fan to begin with, so I would cut the peanuts by a 1/3 or 1/2 on top. The hot fudge topping is delicious. I think if I were to do it over again, I would make 1 1/2 times the hot fudge of what the recipe calls for. However, I think there's better desserts out there. I'll try something else next time.

Sausage Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
I'm simply amazed at the high rating this recipe received. It was the only "bomb" at my Thanksgiving meal. I made it for an appetizer. Out of 16 guests, only 1 liked it. While the recipe is very easy to make, it has a very bland taste. Nobody had any idea what they were eating--one person guessed he was eating a crab cake! Don't waste your time on this one...

Praline Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
This dish is maybe a little too sweet, even for a person like myself who's a sugar addict! I thought there was too much of the topping and not enough of a sweet potato taste. It tastes almost like a custard, with too much of an "eggy" taste for my liking. I made it for a Thanksgiving side dish, and it only received a lukewarm reception from my guests as well. I don't think I would make this again. FYI, I think the serving size is way off on this. This recipe is enough for probably more like 12 servings.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This recipe was easy to make; however, it contained way too much sour cream. I also think I prefer this recipe with the fried onions on top. I think I will make someting else next time.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This was a hit at Thanksgiving. The potatoes have a nice, custard-like texture, and the topping is delicious. Thanks!

Marshmallow and Lime Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
I made this for Christmas, and used the suggestion of one of the past reviewers, as I don't care for pecans. I substituted 3/4 cup coconut for the pecans. I also did not wait for the marshmallows and 7-up to cool before adding the gelatin and cream cheese. It turned out really delicious. As a final touch, I put more marshmallows along the top of the jello after finishing it, then put it in the refrigerator to set over night. It was not runny at all and was very good. My guests had a mixed reaction to it. I guess if you don't like lime/pineapple/coconut, as all three flavors are pretty strong, you wouldn't like this. I, however, thought it was delicious!
