Carrot Cake III

Everyone that has tried this has asked for the recipe. This is a wonderful carrot cake! The only change I made was to eliminate the pecans in the frosting. It was fantastic!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
This is really easy to make and tastes delicious! I lightly toasted thinly sliced and buttered french bread for dipping... wouldn't eat it any other way! It was perfect! Even great the next day, too. Will definitely make again.

Stuffed Hot Peppers

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
This is an excellent recipe! I can't stop eating them! I change the recipe amount to yield 8 servings but still only use 6 peppers so they are fuller. Very good. I have also made this filling recipe and stuffed zucchini and mushrooms with it. They also came out great, too! Highly recommend this recipe! Will make again... and again.. and again! Thanks!

Peppered Focaccia

Wonderful! Tastes like it was bought fresh from a professional bakery! This is a great, easy recipe that we make over and over. My 10 y/o daughter uses the dough recipe to make bread with all different kinds of toppings and flavors... always comes out great! Highly recommend!

Lemon Coconut Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2010
I am sorry, too, but we didn't care for these either. I decreased the sugar as others did and it was still too sweet - it was almost as if all you taste is the white sugar. I added an extra 1/4 C of lemon and it still wasn't lemony enough. The coconut only added sweetness, not real coconut flavor. The crust was really dry and still flakey with all that butter. The top lemon mixture did turn out really chewy, but that was the only thing I liked about these. These taste like preserved, processed, packaged treats. Really sorry - I wish I could say we liked them but I will not make these again.

Slow Cooker Manly Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2010
The flavor was okay but this is not "Manly" by any means. I had to add cooked carrots, mashed potatoes, egg noodles, and garlic bread and my husband cleaned his plate without feeling full at all! It's more like a stroganoff, as another reviewer said. A wonderful stroganoff recipe is at allrecipes.com Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff by Jessica... highly recommend if that's what you're looking for. This just wasn't enough for us. Sorry! It was very easy and really wanted to like it. Just not at all what we expected.

Real Homemade Tamales

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2010
This is so easy! Quick changes: 1) I cooked meat in the croc pot for almost two days with a whole onion, four cloves, cumin, and cajun seasoning (like a seasoned salt), covered with water. It made the meat super tender. 2) I mixed almost two cups of the "marinade" from the meat (croc pot) with the chile mixture in the blender with onion powder and garlic salt. Very good. 3) I used a LOT of juice left over from meat for the masa mixture. I had to use an extra cup of beef boulloin. 5) I doubled the masa mixture and used 3lbs of pork. 4) I mixed all the chile sauce that I made with the pork and put INTO husks/tamales instead of leaving some for on top. I think this was much better this way... less dry. 5) I put fat amounts of masa mixture and lots of meat mixture in each husk. My tamales were chunky! :-) 6) I steamed in a regular pot, layed flat, for 30 min. I had made the chile sauce and meat in one day. The next day I started the masa and assembly at three and we ate dinner by 5:30. These are easy easy easy! Will definitely make again. Thank you so much for this recipe! The best one I've found on allrecipes! :-)

Insanely Amazing Jalapeno Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
The cheese didn't melt well together, the greese from the cheese and mayo rose up so that it looks like nothing but melted butter. We tried with both bread and chips and after only a few, we decided it wasn't what we were after. I am really sorry. It sounded wonderful, but I won't make again.

New Duchess Spice Cake with Maple Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
This is like straight butter and sugar. The recipe made plenty of frosting and maybe that was the problem, but the butter was overpowering and even after adding an extra 1/2 tsp of maple, it was bland. It was not light by any means and the thud in my stomache was unmistakeable. I am sorry but this was awful. I threw half the cake away and will not make again.

Ham and Corn Beignets

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
3 stars because they are way easy and taste alright... they definitely change into a different texture after the first day. Out of the oil, they're crispy, the next day they are chewy. They definitely need more flavor in my opinion. I added cheese half way through because I thought they were bland and that made a big difference. I had also made an artichoke dip and they taste good dipped in that also. They taste like "hush puppies." This made a huge batch and I finally threw the last of them away. We aren't really crazy about fried foods and didn't like the greasy feel. I won't make these again. It needs a little more "something." Overall okay, easy recipe. Just wasn't our taste.

Decadent Raspberry Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
These are awesome! Follow the recipe exactly! My husband doesn't like any desserts, especially chocolate, and he loved these! I make them again and again! We cut them into small squares, wrap individually in tin foil, and freeze in a ziploc bag. We all get into the fridge and pull them out whenever we have a craving... they freeze very well and stay chewy. Very very good, thanks!

Mint Tea Punch

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
My daughters and I just made this... took us about ten minutes, followed recipe almost exactly... the only thing we changed was instead of using fresh mint we used a mint tea bag. Could add more or use less of any of these ingredients according to taste, but as it is, we really liked it a lot. Will definitely make again! Thanks!

Good recipe. Bread is a little heavy and dry... could use more dijon or other seasoning. Surprised to say, but really liked the pickles! Overall good recipe, but will play with it and add to it next time. Thanks!
