Shredded Brussels Sprouts
I made this last year as our veggie side dish for Christmas dinner. I was tired of the typical green bean casserole and wanted a dish that wasn't the same "mushy" texture as everything else on the table (stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc.). I knew it was a risk because brussel sprouts are not popular in my family, but this sounded unique. It was a HUGE hit! My now 12 and 9 year old sons have specifically requested that I make it again this year, and they have asked for it several times during this past year. The only changes I made were quartering the sprouts instead of shredding them and I used slivered almonds instead of pine nuts due to the expense. HUGE, HUGE hit with everyone!

Amish White Bread
This is a fabulous bread recipe! The crust is firm but not dry. The interior is smooth and soft with an even texture. I made the recipe with 1/3 C. sugar and it is great. I also used my Kitchen Aid mixer to mix the dough. Just keep it on level 1 until all of your flour is added, then kick it up to about level 4 for a minute, just until all of the flour is incorporated and the dough looks smooth and all together. For the second rise I put half in a bread pan and divided the other half into 12 dough balls and baked in a muffin tin for rolls. Perfect! If you are using the little yeast packets, use 2 of the 1/4 ounce packets (I used Fleischmann's). Thanks, Peg!
