Just yesterday I added the Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast to my files because I was letting a huge piece of chuck roast thaw and didn't have a clue as to what I wanted to do with it. Interesting list.

Could you list the top 5-10 from each category (appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, beverages, desserts, etc.)? This list is predominantly sweets!

Love everyone's comments! We do love desserts, don't we?! And guess what?! It's easy to find the Top 20 recipes in each category--appetizers, soups, salads, etc. Click on "Recipes" in the ribbon across the top of the home page. On the left side of the page, find "Browse Deeper" and underneath down the left side of the page you'll see all the recipe categories on the site. Click on any one to open the collection and find "Top 20" as one of the options just to the right of "Collection Home." Enjoy!

I've only made 2 of these recipes - both the chocolate chip cookies! Hmmmm, what does that say about me? Hi, my name is Dianne, and I'm a chocoholic...I will have to try the pot roast and tilapia. And I've always wanted to try those clones of a cinnabon!

Thanks for the tip about top 20 in a given category. Sometimes you guys are just 10 steps ahead of us (well, most of the time).

I always forget about the various Collections - the World Cuisine and Healthy categories are great! I've tried a couple of the top ten, but I'm a sucker for the "underdogs" - I tend to choose newer recipes!

Except the top 20 is flawed! For example a recipe with 90 mostly 5 star reviews is not in the top 20, but a recipe with 3 5 star reviews(but no other reviews) is in the top 20. This doesnt seem right to me! And yes, in the interest of full disclosure I am talking about my beloved "Shrimpcargot" getting bumped out of the top 20 by the new system! Hey, if a girl cant toot her own horn, who will? Don't answer that Anita. Or Evin. Or any of you yahoos, lol! ;)

I'm an underdog sucker, too. I often get shafted by the numerously-rated, highest-rated recipes (since 800 out of 1000 people are reviewing their own changes or the *idea* of the recipe, anyway), and find little gems in forgotten, minimally-rated, lower-rated recipes. I think AR should consider a 'Poor Little Recipe' category. Shrimpcargot would NOT be one of them (but who's counting, right Ambi?). :)

U-hoo! Here's why the Top 20 recipes in recipe collections are different than the top rated recipes: It's because Allrecipes uses a mathematical formula that takes into account recent activity for each recipe. How many people have been looking at it today? This way the same recipes will not show up on the Top 20 list all the time. Make sense? Keep the questions coming!

About Me
Allrecipes.com is the world’s largest food site created entirely from contributions from talented home cooks. Allrecipes was first introduced in 1997 by five college students who loved cookies and had the early vision the web would be a fantastic place for people to find and share everyday food ideas. Twelve years later, Allrecipes.com is home to an amazing community where millions of recipes, reviews, ratings, photos, and blog postings spanning all types of ingredients, dish types, occasions and cooking styles are viewed and shared daily. Allrecipes grows every day as the community continues to share new ideas and experiences. Along with the original site, Allrecipes now has communities for home cooks in Australia/NZ, China, France, Germany, and the UK/Ireland. (Check them out! You’ll find links at the very bottom of this page.) For cooks on the go, Allrecipes is available free on the iPhone via the Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner app, and web enabled phones at m.allrecipes.com.
My favorite things to cook
Everything and anything! Allrecipes community is an amazing resource for discovering all types of dishes and treats
My favorite family cooking traditions
All of them! How could anyone choose? All year long our community is cooking and celebrating seasonal holidays and special family occasions. Even the dinners we all have to get on the table every night can be a cherished tradition—or will seem so once the kids are grown.
My cooking triumphs
The millions of recipe choices, the tips and advice, the support and encouragement to try new things or rediscover old favorites make using this site a constant joy.
My cooking tragedies
Who doesn’t have these? Too many to tell really, but from each disaster there’s something to learn and laugh about. Cooking is meant to be an adventure!
