Hi Allrecipeeps!

You asked, and we answered! We are so excited to announce our newest (and most requested) Supporting Membership feature, Menu Planner!

With the all-new Menu Planner, you can:

  • ·         Create a menu for a single meal
  • ·         Create menus for a week, or multiple meals
  • ·         Drag and drop recipes from your recipe box to create a new menu or edit an existing one
  • ·         Browse through over 1,000 already created menus for occasions from everyday to holiday (Whether you’re counting calories or craving good old fashion comfort food, we have countless choices to choose from!)
  • ·         Customize these pre-made menus by saving them to your My Menus and exchanging recipes for your favorites
  • ·         Add a recipe from any recipe page to an existing menu saved to your My Menus, or start a new one
  • ·         Save money and time by using pre-made menus that have been designed to use all the surplus ingredients – so no wasted leftovers!
  • ·         View automatically calculated nutritional information for your entire meal
  • ·         Find a menu that goes with any recipe by clicking on ‘related menus’ from a recipe page (no more guessing what side or main dish goes best with the recipe)

The best part? Allrecipes Menu Planner builds your shopping list as you add recipes to your menu – making it so easy to plan and shop for your meal (or meals!).

We can’t wait to hear what you think! Please let us know in the comments below. We’re sure you will be as excited as we are! We are here to help, so if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at

Happy cooking (and menu planning)!

This is perfect. I've been using shopping lists as menu planners and it left a LOT to be desired. I can't wait 'til I can access this. It still isn't working for me.

Any chance you can bring back being able to move or delete multiple recipes at a time?? You used to be able to select a bunch in your box and move them at once!! But this menu thing looks cool!!!

Elizabeth, please help! Everytime I go to my recipe box, I have to log in again, and then if I try to go to another page, or folder, or try anything...I get logged out and have to start all over again. I have been messing with this for about 20 minutes...any advice...anyone?

Uh oh, I thought I would try the buzz to see if anyone could help, but it seems I can't participate, if I try to post, I get logged out! At least I am able to post here. Have I been banned? =(

Very cool.. I wish there was more flexibility with shopping lists though. Like adding individual items of what you need, instead of the entire ingredient list, then deleting what you don't need. Also, shopping lists you create in the new menu option don't seem to appear in your "Shopping List" links.. great idea though and I am sure there will be more tweaks in the future. Thanks.. a great way to plan, eat healthier and save money.

I am having trouble getting use to this. Wanting to make week menu and want help. Is there a tutorial?

The Menu Planner doesn't work on an iPad. The page doesn't support drag and drop for touch surface devices. If you use the "Add to Menu" option then the recipe is always added to the last meal and cannot be moved upward. Very disappointing.

I would really like the Drag-and-Drop feature to work from menu to day-of-week. It does not. I tried on Safari and Chrome.

About Me is the world’s largest food site created entirely from contributions from talented home cooks. Allrecipes was first introduced in 1997 by five college students who loved cookies and had the early vision the web would be a fantastic place for people to find and share everyday food ideas. Twelve years later, is home to an amazing community where millions of recipes, reviews, ratings, photos, and blog postings spanning all types of ingredients, dish types, occasions and cooking styles are viewed and shared daily. Allrecipes grows every day as the community continues to share new ideas and experiences. Along with the original site, Allrecipes now has communities for home cooks in Australia/NZ, China, France, Germany, and the UK/Ireland. (Check them out! You’ll find links at the very bottom of this page.) For cooks on the go, Allrecipes is available free on the iPhone via the Dinner Spinner app, and web enabled phones at
My favorite things to cook
Everything and anything! Allrecipes community is an amazing resource for discovering all types of dishes and treats
My favorite family cooking traditions
All of them! How could anyone choose? All year long our community is cooking and celebrating seasonal holidays and special family occasions. Even the dinners we all have to get on the table every night can be a cherished tradition—or will seem so once the kids are grown.
My cooking triumphs
The millions of recipe choices, the tips and advice, the support and encouragement to try new things or rediscover old favorites make using this site a constant joy.
My cooking tragedies
Who doesn’t have these? Too many to tell really, but from each disaster there’s something to learn and laugh about. Cooking is meant to be an adventure!
