Hi Elizabeth - Happy New Year! Many people are wondering whatever happened with Round 4 of the recipe contest. Was there a winner? Will there be a round 5?

Jan. 5, 2011 1:07 pm
Thanks Elizabeth.. of all those recipes, I've tried #4 the Sweet Potato Casserole. I can see why it was ranked as one of the top 10 - it truly is fantastic.

Not a one! Sorry! I have enjoyed a good number of new recipes from this site this year, but not one of them is on your top ten list. Thanks for the hard work to keep this site running! Am looking forward to what new things you have for us this year.

I havnt tried any but will be trying the Marinade for sure

I tried the Chicken Marsala and the Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole. I made crepes to that were wonderful, but I am not sure if it was that recipe or not? The chicken marsala turned out pretty good. Although, I just used wine I had on hand. And, it is not a quick or low cal recipe. But, we did not care for the sweet potato casserole at all. There is another one from on here that I use and really like. I thought this one had no flavor and the toppping just tasted like over-cooked pecans, not sweet, crumbly, and tasty, unless I did something wrong? The first 3 are good picks as they are always requested along with the alfredo sauce though.

We have used #3 several times. I may try the Chicken Marsala this year. We're not extremely fond of sweets.

Jan. 5, 2011 3:03 pm
Yep, the crepes were the ones I made. They were perfect!

I can't believe the Donut muffins didn't make the list! LOLOL!

The best-steak-marinade-in-existence has become a staple in our house! We make extra, aside from the actual marinade, and cook it a bit so we can use it as a dipping sauce. SO good!

I love the Chicken Marsala at Carraba's, so I'm going to try this recipe.

I was wondering which brownie recipe is it that's photographed in What's Cooking? This Week at Allrecipes? Those brownies look fabulously outrageous! I know a few people who would love to go into a chocolate coma on those brownies! Please please point me in the right direction... mahaloz!

Best brownies are my fall back recipe whenever I need to bring something for a crowd, I have yet to have had complaints about that recipe. I think they really are the best brownies I've ever eaten :) I'll have to check out the other recipes on the list too :)

Hi, Happy New Year and thanks for such a wonderful site!! From the top ten I have only tried #4 the sweet potatoes which I did not actually care for; I will surely not make it again - it tasted too much like a dessert. I have tried many other delicious recipes that have not made it to the top ten and have enjoyed them all!

I have made the sweet potato caserole and the no bake cookies and they are some of my favorite recipes. I'm anxious to try the crepes with some Nutella and bananas. I always thought you needed a "crepe maker" for those. A question on the chicken marsala, I really want to try it. Do you know of a good substitute for the wine if you don't use alcohol?

a million thanks elizabeth. who needs cookbooks these days ? when an idea hits me, instead of searching the volumes of cookbooks i have, i immediately access allrecipes. i have tried the sweet pot casserole, it was a wee bit too sweet for my taste buds so toned it down a tad and it is the best ever. ive always "hated" sweet potatoes (thats after 20 years in the navy and trying "their" version and am really happy now that i like them especially as they are allegedly good for one.

I have made the pulled seveal times and is now my go bbq pork recipe. Thanks for the work that is done by your site and look forward to using more or the recipes on the site. I already have over 300 in my recipe box. And have tried over 3/4 of them.

I would like to know which brownie recipe is it that's photographed in What's Cooking? This Week at Allrecipes? Those brownies look amazing. The photo on the best brownie recipe doesn't match. Just wondering.

The slow cooker pulled pork has become a favorite with my family! My teenage boys absolutely crave it, for good reason it is excellent!

Not one of these recipes is anything I would ever try. Crepes? Every cookbook has a pancake recipe & this is nothing special. Sweet potato mush? Every cookbook in the free world has ten variations on this one. Did anyone try anythign UNUSUAL???

What's your answer to the pictured brownies/cake? It looks like something called "Texas Cake."

I have used the "the best chocolate chip" recipe and it's truly that! My DH and I always fail at making choc. chip cookies and this recipe is successful every time. I'm going to try the pulled pork for sure.

The correct name for the "brownie/cake" picture is Texas Sheet Cake. (It's made in a cookie sheet) My mom used to make it when I was a little girl.

I have made the sweet potato casserole and it was fantastic! I made it for Thanksgiving and again last week. Even my daughter who doesn't like sweet potatoes likes this and my niece has been asking me to make it again! Thanks for the recipe.

Hi there! For those of you that are wondering - the photo in the newsletter is a photo a member took of the Best Brownies. :) Members sometimes modify the recipes slightly but it looks like member Chrysanthi (who took the photo and submitted it to Allrecipes) made the brownies and frosted them while they were warm, making them look like a delicious, gooey version!

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences with these recipes! Chicken Marsala has definitely become a staple in my house, too!

Texas Sheet Cake has cinnamon in the recipe, no honey & pecans in the icing...NO M&M's. The 'brownies'pictured look dry or stale, which a true Texas Sheet Cake (cooked properly)is not.

this is for MSRM, I tried the Tangene Chicken and it was fabulous, sometimes when cooking you have to add your flare to the recipes that suit you. I put other veggies in this recipe. Lighten up and enjoy the journey... Much happiness to you Lilwobbies

I have used allrecipes.com for years now. It is the first place I go to find ANY recipe. Now my daughter uses it, three nieces use it and anyone else I offer cooking advise to, I send here first. No others are as easy to use, nor find whatever you are looking for. Thanks Allrecipes! You're the best!

I have made the pulled pork many times and have discovered that using a brand name root beer ( I use A&W) there is a difference in the taste. This is keeper at my house.

I love coming to the AR site! Even though some of us try "tried and true" recipes, I'm glad there are opportunities for people like me who love "different" recipes! I'm surprised by and pleased with the amount of information I keep on learning here!

i tried #5 and #6 this year - we LOVE the alfredo sauce, my 13-year-old son was just asking why we don't make it more often! and no-bake cookies are one of my all-time faves, since an aunt brought them to a party when i was about 6. i can't make them because then i EAT them ALL! lol now that i have a printer hooked up again, we'll be printing more and trying more this year - i've already used the wonderful spicy garlic-lime chicken recipe from near the end of the year and it was amazing! a wonderful, easy company dish!

I only made #10- Basic crepes- one of our faves; we even had them today.

Well, I have to confess that I look up the pulled pork recipe A LOT! maybe that's why it's Number 1! Every time I make it some one wants the recipe so I email it to them. All of my grandchildren, neighbors, friends and church love this tastey dish! and it's sooo easy!

Sitting here watching it snow (12 inches and counting) and finally got around to checking out this list. I have a very similar pulled pork recipe but I use cola instead of root beer. I haven't used any of these recipes but I plan to starting with the no bake cookies. I received some of these in a cookie swap and loved them.

I made the brownies this morning! I only had a little white sugar and subbed brown for the rest-still REALLY good and needed no icing IMHO. They were fast and easy to throw together before work and baked while I was getting ready :) Going to do the potatoes tonight... and I HAVE to try the pulled pork soon!

Chicken marsala was yummy! I plan on trying the Alfredo sauce, brownies and cookies next!

About Me
Allrecipes.com is the world’s largest food site created entirely from contributions from talented home cooks. Allrecipes was first introduced in 1997 by five college students who loved cookies and had the early vision the web would be a fantastic place for people to find and share everyday food ideas. Twelve years later, Allrecipes.com is home to an amazing community where millions of recipes, reviews, ratings, photos, and blog postings spanning all types of ingredients, dish types, occasions and cooking styles are viewed and shared daily. Allrecipes grows every day as the community continues to share new ideas and experiences. Along with the original site, Allrecipes now has communities for home cooks in Australia/NZ, China, France, Germany, and the UK/Ireland. (Check them out! You’ll find links at the very bottom of this page.) For cooks on the go, Allrecipes is available free on the iPhone via the Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner app, and web enabled phones at m.allrecipes.com.
My favorite things to cook

My cooking triumphs
The millions of recipe choices, the tips and advice, the support and encouragement to try new things or rediscover old favorites make using this site a constant joy.
My cooking tragedies
