Can you smell the cookies baking?! Allrecipes staff members have mixed, stirred, rolled and baked a zillion cookies since December 1, or so it seems. We’ve tucked cookies into baggies, packed cookies in boxes, filled out Customs forms, and trekked up the street to deliver boxes to the Post Office. We estimate we'll have baked and mailed more than 3,000 cookies by December 25. Wow! It’s been a lot of work, a lot of fun, and a big success!
This is Judith writing. Thank you all for participating in our Cookies for the Troops project by submitting nominations for soldiers to receive cookies and by sending us so many encouraging messages. We loved reading your comments! Everyone’s enthusiasm has been wonderful. A lot of you helped with the baking effort too. It’s been a terrific community effort.
For the complete list of troops who have been sent cookies, check the December 2 Allrecipes Blog post.
So you can see the Allrecipes team in action, I’m posting some fun photos of our cookie baking efforts here in the office. Enjoy, and happy holidays!

About Me is the world’s largest food site created entirely from contributions from talented home cooks. Allrecipes was first introduced in 1997 by five college students who loved cookies and had the early vision the web would be a fantastic place for people to find and share everyday food ideas. Twelve years later, is home to an amazing community where millions of recipes, reviews, ratings, photos, and blog postings spanning all types of ingredients, dish types, occasions and cooking styles are viewed and shared daily. Allrecipes grows every day as the community continues to share new ideas and experiences. Along with the original site, Allrecipes now has communities for home cooks in Australia/NZ, China, France, Germany, and the UK/Ireland. (Check them out! You’ll find links at the very bottom of this page.) For cooks on the go, Allrecipes is available free on the iPhone via the Dinner Spinner app, and web enabled phones at
My favorite things to cook
Everything and anything! Allrecipes community is an amazing resource for discovering all types of dishes and treats
My favorite family cooking traditions
All of them! How could anyone choose? All year long our community is cooking and celebrating seasonal holidays and special family occasions. Even the dinners we all have to get on the table every night can be a cherished tradition—or will seem so once the kids are grown.
My cooking triumphs
The millions of recipe choices, the tips and advice, the support and encouragement to try new things or rediscover old favorites make using this site a constant joy.
My cooking tragedies
Who doesn’t have these? Too many to tell really, but from each disaster there’s something to learn and laugh about. Cooking is meant to be an adventure!
