Hi, everyone! This is Judith writing with an update about Allrecipes’ Christmas Cookie Countdown for the Troops. It’s a huge success!!! With your help and recommendations, we’ve collected more than 70 names of troops stationed overseas to receive a yummy box of Christmas cookies. The Allrecipes staff is busy baking in our kitchen to send a box of cookies every day between December 1 and 25 to someone you nominated. We estimate we’ll have shipped more than 3500 cookies by Christmas!!!

For the troops on the Allrecipes cookie list, check the December 2 blog post. We’re announcing someone new every day!

Catch the Christmas spirit! Send someone a homemade gift from the heart!

I have a son in Iraq, and I know that they all appreciate this. I send boxes of snack cakes and cookies and they all send back requests for their favorites. It makes them happy to get some non Army food

I would also like to thank everyone but I especially want to thank Daisey K for sending my daughter Sgt. Marissa Hendriks cookies. Not having my daughter (my only child) home for Christmas for the first time ever has been very hard for me. Your kindness to Marissa has made me feel a bit of the Christmas spirit. Thank you so much! Debbie

My husband was one of the lucky recipients of the cookies. Not only did he receive cookies from the All Recipes staff, but from All Recipes Members as well. Since the internet can be a little unreliable, he asked to me to send a BIG thank you to everyone. The cookies were enjoyed by many soldiers (0nce the word got out that there homebaked cookies around, there was kind of a stampede to get some). We just wanted to thank everyone for their efforts and to let you know how appreciated your efforts are.

It seems that quite a few people substitute pork tenderloin for pork loin in some recipes. Perhaps they do not know the difference. If you were to put "not tenderloin" in parenthesis after listing pork loin it may help and educate at the same time.

About Me is the world’s largest food site created entirely from contributions from talented home cooks. Allrecipes was first introduced in 1997 by five college students who loved cookies and had the early vision the web would be a fantastic place for people to find and share everyday food ideas. Twelve years later, is home to an amazing community where millions of recipes, reviews, ratings, photos, and blog postings spanning all types of ingredients, dish types, occasions and cooking styles are viewed and shared daily. Allrecipes grows every day as the community continues to share new ideas and experiences. Along with the original site, Allrecipes now has communities for home cooks in Australia/NZ, China, France, Germany, and the UK/Ireland. (Check them out! You’ll find links at the very bottom of this page.) For cooks on the go, Allrecipes is available free on the iPhone via the Dinner Spinner app, and web enabled phones at
My favorite things to cook
Everything and anything! Allrecipes community is an amazing resource for discovering all types of dishes and treats
My favorite family cooking traditions
All of them! How could anyone choose? All year long our community is cooking and celebrating seasonal holidays and special family occasions. Even the dinners we all have to get on the table every night can be a cherished tradition—or will seem so once the kids are grown.
My cooking triumphs
The millions of recipe choices, the tips and advice, the support and encouragement to try new things or rediscover old favorites make using this site a constant joy.
My cooking tragedies
Who doesn’t have these? Too many to tell really, but from each disaster there’s something to learn and laugh about. Cooking is meant to be an adventure!
