Hi there!

It’s me, Elizabeth, your Consumer Relations Manager.  J I am so excited that I get to share with you what is new with your recipe box! We have been very hard at work here at Allrecipes to bring you more of what you have been asking for.

Here is a list of new and improved features.

#1 It’s a feast for the eyes!
  • Add photos to your Personal recipes!
#2 Sharing (your recipes) is Easy!
  • Share your recipe box with your friends and family!
  • No more Private recipes! You now have Personal Recipes, which you can share on your profile – or keep private, based on your preference!
  • All of your Kitchen Approved (Allrecipes published) and Custom Recipes have been set to be shared at launch. You can change this status by logging into your recipe box and changing the status for each recipe you may want to hide. If you want to share your Personal Recipes you can set those to shared as well!
#3 More ways to organize your recipe box are now available!
  • We’ve given you additional pre-made folder options to help organize your recipe box. You’re welcome J
#4 Learn more about your fellow members!
  • Rate and review other members’ Personal and Custom Recipes.  You can even save them to your recipe box!
  • Want to know who has customized Banana Banana Bread, (or any other recipe) and how? Go to the recipe page, and click on ‘Customized versions of this recipe’ to see.
  • You can see how many people have saved each recipe to their recipe box, and see the 10 most recent members who saved it!
#5 Grocery shopping just got easier!
  • Add your personal recipes (and MORE) to your shopping list! You now have the ability to add not just personal recipes but also hundreds of items in our database to your shopping list!
#6 Save more than just Allrecipes recipes!
  • Save weblinks and references – and share them on your profile! Try it – the weblinks and references features will scrape the website you are saving, and include a thumbnail photo and a description.
Start clicking, sharing, and cooking! We can’t wait for your feedback – feel free to share below, or contact us at CustomerSupport@Allrecipes.com.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Elizabeth

Oct. 27, 2009 8:25 pm
After reading your blog I love the changes that you have made. I have talked to so many people about this site only to have them come back and say I couldn't find your recipes or I wanted to get into your recipe box and I couldn't. I would like to know though how they are able to see these recipes. Can they now go to somewhere and type in my name and access my recipe box or is it like it is now that they have to see my name and click on it in order to access my profile? Thanks for your help

Oct. 27, 2009 8:25 pm
Thanks for all your hard work, AR Staffers. :)

Oct. 27, 2009 8:27 pm
Still getting used to the changes! I think it would be easier if we could have the option of changing all our recipes in our box to share or not to share with one click instead of having to select each recipe individually.

Oct. 27, 2009 8:29 pm
So much fun here tonight! And it will carry over into the future! Thanks!

Oct. 27, 2009 8:30 pm
On the home page under the words Favorite photos is a link that says vote for tomorrow's favorites.

As long as the RECIPES stay the stars, site betterment is...well...icing on the cake!

Oct. 27, 2009 9:26 pm
Wow! So many good things, so little time! I spend way too much time on AR now, guess I will have to have someone bring my meals to me while I play on All Recipes! Love it!

Oct. 27, 2009 9:42 pm
Thanks for the changes. I wish the cropping box when submitting photos was much larger like it was before, it is very tiny now.

Oct. 27, 2009 10:13 pm
Change is good, and I personally think its a wonderful job. Its an awful lot to grap when your as old and cranky as I am. But I do like it. Its my One Year anniversary with AR. Thanks I almost feel like you remembered, and got me something noone else could. Bravo.

Oct. 27, 2009 11:10 pm
As with anything, it will just take a bit to get used to but once we've all learned our way around this new class room we'll be fine. I do have to agree with VA Mom, in that, it does appear that "Big Sister" is watching us. I guess I'm wondering too if I have something in my box that is labled private, does that mean it still shows up to whoever might be looking and say private, or can they just not see it at all?

Oct. 28, 2009 2:44 am
Added features look like they'll be good, and will check them out when time permits. Speaking of time- coming to the site at 9:30 PM eastern time and finding it down to make the changes would be no problem. However, for those of out west, that means 6:30, and it may have gone down even earlier than that. And not all of us have dinner on the table at six. It kinda caught me off guard, tho my winging it anyway turned out pretty good.

So far I am REALLY liking the changes! Thanks Elizabeth!

Oct. 28, 2009 4:25 am
I'm still trying to figure all of this out! I think I will get to understand it after I have several days to experience this!

Oct. 28, 2009 4:31 am
I love the new recipe box 'Tool' feature! No more uncategorized recipes for me! Once I (finally) get my box organized, it'll be so easy to access my recipes in the folders. Thanks!

Oct. 28, 2009 5:07 am
Well, I'm not the most computer saavy person and right now I can't get into my profile, but I was able to get into my recipe box and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how the pictures show up next to the recipes! It's gonna take a little getting used to (as with anything new), but I'm lovin' it so far. Thanks for the improvements! :)

Oct. 28, 2009 5:14 am
It looks good but I haven't had time to check any of it out yet. Thanks for listening and trying to change to make AR more user friendly.

What happened to the nutritional information in the daily recipes?

Oct. 28, 2009 5:55 am
I glad we can select which private recipes to show. Good thing I didn't have nasty comments on some of them! A "heads-up" up on this new feature might have been nice. I really like not having to type in a personal recipe for someone on a post, tho.

Oct. 28, 2009 5:58 am
Thanks for the hard work AR Staff!! I'm so shocked right now as I just logged in! It will take me a few days to get used to it, as I'm not the most computer literate person...LOL, thanks again~~~Cyndi :)

Oct. 28, 2009 6:34 am
Thanks, I hate change, but I know I will get used to it and learn to love it. What would I do without you guys looking out for me? Thanks again!

Oct. 28, 2009 6:46 am
you may have convinced me to buy a membership, thanks for the update

Oct. 28, 2009 7:05 am
This is soooo awesome! Thanks for the update Elizabeth!

Oct. 28, 2009 8:21 am
Great changes, thank you. Blue is my favorite color.

Oct. 28, 2009 8:29 am
Is it just me, or can we no longer add 'Notes' via the actual recipe page? The only place I see it now is in the Recipe Box view.

Oct. 28, 2009 9:09 am
I am still not crazy about the way, when I go to try and add a recipe, that I know I added months ago, that when I add it say, today, today's date replaces the old date. Get me? What's the point of the date if it's going to delete the old one anyway. Help!!

Oct. 28, 2009 9:12 am
I do not have anything to hide first of all but I am not sure I like the way you can "see" into others files. It feels invasive. I know, don't look. Duh! Still on the fence with that one. HHMMM:::>>~~

Oct. 28, 2009 10:09 am
I've been playing with the changes for the past few "hours". Easier to maneuver, I think. Love how the My Recipe section incorporates my own personal recipes. In a nutshell, I'm enjoying the changes. Thanks!!

Oct. 28, 2009 10:48 am
I'm wondering about the thread numbers. copying/pasting/saving, etc.

Oct. 28, 2009 11:33 am
No prob with the thread numbers - just me screwing things up.

Oct. 28, 2009 12:05 pm
As always, thank you so much for all you guys do. Hey, were you aware that our drop down window for adding a recipe shows our recipe folders several times in a row, before it gets to the end? :D bug, bugs, bugs.

Oct. 28, 2009 12:19 pm
One last thought. It would sure be nice to have a place where we could leave a 'note' for the submitter of the recipe. Other than the review area. Maybe, like these 'leave a comment' pages. And maybe run a banner headline for a couple of days letting everyone know that revisions are about to take place, so they can prepare themselves for the shock of change! Thanks again. :D

Oct. 28, 2009 1:35 pm
Thanks for working hard to create a great site. I would visit the AR community more if there was a way to communicate with other bloggers privately. I know I can leave a response on their blogs, but sometimes I want to ask them a personal question, that’s just for their eyes. This option would allow friendship to be more ‘real’. Consider a way that each blogger could have a 'leave comments' section on their profile page that was attached to their e-mail address. (similar to Facebook) That way the communication can stay private and the e-mail addresses can be private as well.

Oct. 28, 2009 2:47 pm
cool!! wow! thats tons of changes, but I'm lovin it!! the changes are making everything a lot more easier to make your own changes!! thanks Elizabeth for the info!

Oct. 28, 2009 3:56 pm
Hi VA Mom and Avon! We want to give you the opportunity to share your recipes with one another; personal, reference or otherwise! If you would like to keep your recipes private, you are able to set each one you would like private as such. Please email us at CustomerSupport@Allrecipes.com if you need any help with changing recipe statuses.

Oct. 28, 2009 3:58 pm
Pelicangal: you can send your friends your cook's url so they can access your profile and recipe box! :)

Oct. 28, 2009 3:59 pm
John: Thanks for the feedback - we are definitely looking into ways to prevent site outages during inconvenient times in the future!

Oct. 28, 2009 4:00 pm
catmandoodle: the nutrition information moved to the bottom of the page - but it's still there!

Oct. 28, 2009 4:33 pm
WHY REMOVE CARB COUNTS? TO A DIABETIC, THAT IS REALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT INFO.

Oct. 28, 2009 4:40 pm
DecafinNW: We are working on fixing the folder issues! Thanks for your patience!

Oct. 28, 2009 4:41 pm
cindy55 - we haven't removed anything! please click on the '+' next to the nutrition info to expand.

Oct. 28, 2009 4:42 pm
dinnercoach & Decaf: we are considering those ideas for future enhancements! Thanks for the feedback!

Oct. 28, 2009 4:47 pm
i don't see where in the recipe box you can move items from folder to folder. i always move the recipes to a "using this week" folder then after i use it i move it to a "tried" or a "make again folder" i don't see where i can do that now.

Oct. 28, 2009 4:59 pm
OK, WHEN THE RECIPE IS PRINTED, A CARB COUNT IS THERE. SORRY FOR GETTING EXCITED OVER IT. AND THIS IS AN IMPROVED LOOK. BLUE IS MY FAVORITE COLOR, AND EASIER ON THE EYES.

Oct. 28, 2009 5:06 pm
OK, JUST SAW UR ANSWER, THX.

Oct. 28, 2009 7:53 pm
So far I have enjoyed the changes but have not had much time to explore. I love love love my new recipe box and equally love the way recipes fly across my screen when I save them, lol.

Oct. 29, 2009 4:43 am
I have just tried to email Elizabeth, but couldn't. Too much detail I didn't understand. What I wanted to know is how can I easily copy reviews of the recipes. Reviews always help me and I would like to copy them along with the recipe.

I like most of your changes. The one I do not like is the recipes name, links, and members name in blue. It is very distracting and late at night it is harsh to look at

Oct. 29, 2009 7:18 am
I don't see where I can add a personal note to the recipe before I print it like I used to...I'm very disappointed if that feature is no longer available...

Oct. 29, 2009 9:25 am
Love the new features, especially looking at the customized recipes

Not happy that to sort recipes into folders I have to click each individually. I liked the check boxes so I could move multiple recipes at the same time.

I like the recipe box now. I never really used it before but now I will. Thanks! neat changes

Oct. 29, 2009 10:25 am
I'm sorry but I don't like the changes!!!!!!!!! The blue lettering is distracting and hurting my eyes. I don't want my recipes public, but they are and this site won't let me change it(i've tried several times). I can't get to my shopping lists or my profile or when I click on the orange my allrecipes button on the top of the page it just goes to a blank page. I'm really frustrated!!!!! I'm trying to get my recipes together for the holidays and it looks like I'm going to have to go somewhere else. This used to be one of my favorite sites and have been a member for a long time. I'm on here almost daily but am going to go use another site for now. I'll come back in a few days to see if it is fixed or changed otherwise I'll have to cancel my account. Thank You.

Oct. 29, 2009 1:39 pm
I dislike the blue also! Some of the changes are nice but I don't like the face lift.

Oct. 29, 2009 1:51 pm
Good job, overall, I realize some people are having issues that sound buggy more than intentional, but I have a suggestion for the next rollout. Right now, there are some recipes that don't show new photos, ever - they're stuck with one, always. (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Hot-and-Sour-Chicken-Soup/Detail.aspx for example) I tried uploading a picture to that recipe (again) to see if the site changes had fixed that bug, but apparently not. It's kind of a bummer, because now the photos are all but hidden on the recipe page - and we submit them for a reason.

Oct. 29, 2009 1:57 pm
Speaking of pictures, I was wondering if the photo voting had been fixed so that clearing cookies didn't allow people to vote a zillion times for one image?

Oct. 29, 2009 2:02 pm
Well, I hope this will be my last comment. IMO, it is NOT COOL that the photographer doesn't get credit on the recipe page when his/her image is being used.

Oct. 29, 2009 3:24 pm
I have a question about the photos as well. I haven't tried uploading a personal photo since the changes, but I have uploaded recipe photos. I may just not know where to look, but am I understanding correctly that we can no longer title our photos or add any comments? I really liked that piece and used it all the time. Where'd it go?

Oct. 29, 2009 4:30 pm
I have a question about 'source' tab for my private recipes - the source tab is gone and so are the sources for all the recipes I have! Is there any way to see it?

Oct. 29, 2009 5:25 pm
There is no category for "beverages". Can't remember if there was one before changes were made. Would be nice to have one!

Oct. 29, 2009 9:13 pm
Thank all of you at allrecipes!!! The best recipe web just got better. Keep up the great work. I use this web sith dayly and some times two or three times a day, always looking for something different to make the Lady of my life something new. While we eat mostly chicken, pork and fish (for health) it's allways different, and of course vegetables

Thanks for your ever vigilant and continuing efforts to improve this already wonderful site. Everytime I go to another site I just keep on coming back to this one. I almost feel like I'm cheating when I stray and I'm never satisfied with the "others". You guys rock - thanks and thanks again!!!!

Oct. 30, 2009 9:49 am
When can we get new graphic themes for printing? I love that feature!

Oct. 30, 2009 9:54 am
First I would like to say - I LOVE this site use it a lot and have been sending folks to it for years - But what happened to the 'personal comment' - I miss that. When I read a commnet from the reviewers, if I like it I would attach it to my recipe. Anu change to bromg that part back?

Nope, hate changes of any kind. Creature of habit & major routine. There's was nothing wrong with it before, except the pop ups when you're trying to read something or typing in personal notes. Which isn't where it's supposed to be anymore. The layouts are not as nice as they were either. Not as "cozy" as they were just DAYS AGO.

Oct. 30, 2009 11:23 am
Thanks for all your feedback everyone! I am going to try and answer all of your questions. :)

Oct. 30, 2009 11:25 am
Amanda23k: in your recipe box, if you hover over the recipe, you will see a link that appears 'Tools +'. Click on it, and you will have the option to move the recipe to a folder.

Oct. 30, 2009 11:27 am
Katharine: I am not sure what you mean. You can print reviews with your recipes as a supporting member, and copy them the same way you always have. Please email me at ElizabethM@Allrecipes.com if you are still having trouble.

Oct. 30, 2009 11:29 am
Momrocks: In your recipe box, you can still add notes to your recipes. From My Allrecipes, click on 'See Complete Recipe Box' the last column has on the right is the Notes column. From there, you can add, edit or view notes.

Oct. 30, 2009 11:30 am
Jennifer: I am so sorry you are having trouble getting into your recipe box! I am looking into a status update for you!

Oct. 30, 2009 11:31 am
Shanagan: Thanks for the feedback - I have passed it on to our development teams!

Oct. 30, 2009 11:37 am
Hi Pomplemousse! I am able to upload photos the same way I always have - including comments, caption and note. (I was able to do this both from the recipe page, as well as 'My Photos' page in My Allrecipes.) Can you email me if you are still having this problem?

Oct. 30, 2009 11:39 am
Carousel lady - please see message above to MomRocks. :) Everyone: thanks again so much for your feedback!! We are listening, and here to help!

Hi Elizabeth! The sources of my saved private recipes dissapeared in the new layout. Is there a way to get them back?

Noisy Girl
Oct. 30, 2009 3:07 pm
Resent the required fields. Some recipes don't have cooking time, for example. Loosen up.

Noisy Girl
Oct. 30, 2009 3:23 pm
I decided on this website because of the private recipe collection, over another site. Did it not occur to the website that many previously private recipes are from sources that shouldn't be publicly posted? i.e. violate copyright? for instance, from cookbooks still in print? Where did the "source" field go? Colored text is not as high-contrast. Think of your users with less than perfect eyesight, or colorblind. Please don't have required fields, or at least take the masks off of them. Tedious to have to put in zeros. If you must add more graphics and colors, please provide a text-only version that is ADA compliant. Thank you for your patience, and I will work on mine.

Oct. 30, 2009 3:27 pm
In an effort to say something positive, the add recipe button is easier to get to. Thank you.

Oct. 30, 2009 6:21 pm
When recommending a recipe, there used to be 2 boxes to select a recipe from. One box contained recently viewed recipes and the other was bookmarked recipes. After the reno on AR, I don't see the "bookmarked" box! That's too bad. I believe the bookmark function was more useful and valuable than the recently viewed function, esp when I'm searching for my favorite recipes; moreover, when recommending a recipe. I don't see the rationale for removing the function. In short--please bring the bookmarked box back! Thanks!

Oct. 30, 2009 6:25 pm
Another request: When looking at a recipe, it would be fabulous for my mouse to hover over the "more" and to be able to read the full recipe. For example, when my mouse hovers over the "more" on the reviews of the recipe, the full recipe shows up. Now that would be a very effiecient and effective tool. Please consider this option to be added soon! Thanks again!

Oct. 30, 2009 6:26 pm
Ooops...I meant: For example, when my mouse hovers over the "more" on the reviews of the recipe, the full *review* shows up.

Oct. 30, 2009 10:28 pm
I'm really liking the new changes! Thanks so much for everyone's hard work on improving the site. :)

Oct. 31, 2009 5:46 am
Elizabeth, will you be adding a "Beverage" category? Also, there are some recipes that I would truly love to DELETE (Yikes!) and would love to know how to do that.

I love the new recipe box! When I finally get everything sorted to the way I want it I'm sure to love it even more. Thank You

What happened? Now I have to include cooking time and total time in the personal recipes? AND I can't post them to a particular library. If it is MY personal recipe - WHY DO YOU CARE?

Karen
Oct. 31, 2009 12:40 pm
Why did I lose the reference that I posted on my personal recipes for their source?

Oct. 31, 2009 1:57 pm
Wow! Thanks so much

Karen
Oct. 31, 2009 3:24 pm
OK - So now I have worked with this for several hours. Some changes are good - Some are in the category of "What were you thinking?". But please restore the source for the old recipes..........Thanks for all your hard work. And remember - you will never please all of us.

Oct. 31, 2009 6:17 pm
Where is the nutrition?

Oct. 31, 2009 6:19 pm
Pictures should be optional...because #1 pages take longer to load with them; #2 they take more real estate on the page, therefore, even more scrolling than ever before. Sorry. I will find something nice to say next time.

I LOVE the changes!!

Hi, I love all the recipes I have used from this site! My daughter is getting married and we are having a brunch the day after. I want to serve soups, sandwiches and breakfast items. I am looking for a recipe for a wild rice bisque that has a creamy base with mushrooms and wild rice. Thanks,

Sweet! I am equally impressed with some changes I noticed with the shopping list.....Thanks Elizabeth & AR!

Hello Elizabeth. I loved the old site and I love this site. When someone asks me about a recipe, cause they know I love to cook & bake, I send them right to allrecipes.com I get great responses from them later on. Now it has become their favorite place to go. God Bless & thank you.. Jazz

sORRY, i forgot to ask why there are only reviews on first page and does not say"More Member Reviews"? There used to be many more reviews on receipe site. Please bring that feature back. It was so helpful(Sometimes confusing w/so many!) THANKS11

Did anyone notice that when you try to print a recipe from your recipe box after changing the number of servings, it will only print the original amount of servings. It didn't do this for the whole time I've been a member until today.

Nov. 1, 2009 2:37 pm
Hi, I am also having the same problem as Jennifer. I am trying to print a recipe with a scaled back serving, but when I try to print a recipe with the new servings, it reverts back to the original servings. Could someone at the AR staff fix that please? Thanks! :)

All the new mandatory fields have got to go. Many, many times people are not going to have this info and I don't want to put in wrong information or try and figure out how to bypass these fields .... particularly on personal recipes that have been there for a long time. I noticed a typo on an old recipe and now I can't fix it unless I add all the newly required fields - which I certainly don't know, want or need. This is making me super neurotic. Everything else, so far, is great.

I agree on nixing all of the required fields. I'm reluctant to make any changes to existing recipes or add new ones to my private recipes because I don't want to jump through all of those hoops. Please, please get rid of them!

The links to "MORE" of reviews no longer work.

Nov. 2, 2009 7:44 am
I think it would be helpful to have the text size increased to at least 10-12 points. Any hope for that, Elizabeth?

Nov. 2, 2009 8:06 am
I really like the changes except for two things. 1) I REALLY REALLY miss not being able to select multiple recipes at the same time from my box. Please, please re-implement that. 2) I miss the "info" link that used to be next to each recipe in the box. I liked seeing my review, notes, and what folders that recipe is in all in one place. 3) I also agree with others about not liking those required fields.

Nov. 2, 2009 8:08 am
Is there any way of seeing which folder(s) a particular recipe in my box is in? I use lots of folders and sometimes put a recipe in multiple places. Used to use the "info" link.

I've been a member since 2003. So I am suppose to go to each of my 265 recipes and select private. You have got to be kidding me. Keep in mine, if I (and am sure others) would have never become a member if I knew this information was going to be shared or at least as I added them I would have clicked private along the way. I am not too happy with the changes and if it wasn't broke why fix it.

One more thing, when you make drastic changes the default should always be what it use to be. All the recipes should have been default 'not shared'. This really is slow and tedious.

I just spent time entering two recipes for my personal recipe box. Both times, after editing the system froze when trying to save. I had to go to a different screen - Come back and re-enter and then save. Sounds like a bug to me..........

Noisy Girl, Lola and Karen: The source information is still saved, and we are working on making it visible again!

Nov. 2, 2009 4:04 pm
Noisy Girl: Your private recipes are still private! We did not make anything private public unless it was submitted as a recipe. You do not have to share them!

Marljong - thanks so much for your feedback! The bookmarked recipes feature has not been widely used, so unfortunately, it has been removed to make room for other features. I am sorry for the inconvenience!

Nov. 2, 2009 4:12 pm
Hi Southern Gma! You can delete a recipe from your recipe box by hovering over it with your mouse, and clicking on the tools menu that appears. From there you will see several options, including delete. :)

Nov. 2, 2009 4:14 pm
Thisni Caza: the nutrition information is under the recipe. Click on the '+' next to the minimal info, and it will maximize.

Nov. 2, 2009 4:17 pm
cookamaker: the additional reviews are still viewable! You can view them by clicking through to 'view all reviews' at the top of the Member reviews section (it's to the right hand side) Or from the top of the recipe page, next to rating (click on Read Reviews).

Nov. 2, 2009 4:19 pm
Jennifer and BeckyG: We are working on fixing that! In the meantime, you can still print the recipes with altered serving sizes, it just requires an additional step! Select the recipe you would like to print and select "Print this Recipe". You will see the URL (web address) at the top of the screen. The URL should end in "...servings=8" with the last number indicating the original number of servings. Simply change this number to the number of servings you would like for the recipe to have and click the Enter key on your keyboard. You are then able to print the recipe with your desired number of servings.

AR Elizabeth Thanks for your timely response to comments. Having been involved in data updates and reconfigurations it is a seemingly thankless job. I do appreciate all of your teams hard works and still think this one of the best sites on the net. I appreciate your concern for your users. Keep up the good work

I am really disappointed to see the photographer credit missing from the "representative photo" on the recipe page. I have enjoyed getting to know the work of the innumerable creative people that post photos here. It's one of the first things I look at when it is an especially appealing photo with the recipe. I *sincerely* hope you will add that back.

AR Elizabeth, I'm not sure where to post "trouble shooting" problems (?)...I can't crop photos anymore (though others can) AND when you re-size a recipe and add it to your shopping list, it adds wrong amounts in your shopping list. (1/5th of 5 lbs is not 1/3 tsp!) IDK if maybe these problems are only with my account & if so not really a problem but I thought I'd point it out in case these issues can be replicated & addressed! TIA, and TY for all your hard work AR!

Elizabeth, thank you! Gawd, I feel so "duh". Now, will there be a BEVERAGE (did you know you type BEVERAGE with just the left hand? Wow!) category? ;)

Elizabeth, site looks great! I have to admit that I have not spent lots of time going through all of the changes, but I am able to find recipes. I have been able to save recipes, cut and paste notes and maneuver around okay. I am amazed at the quick response time you are giving to the feedback that is being posted.Your response to some of the questions have already clarified some issues for me. I know it has taken a lot of time to modify and develop the changes and I am sure I will love it as soon as I learn the changes. Thanks to you and all of the team at AR......always love this web site.

This is a great website, and I would like to add my 2 cents to the improvement discussion: 1. With the text of the recipe in gray instead of black, all the side bar information in blue, the flashing advertisements on the side, etc. really take over. I think the recipe text should be black because that is the main reason for the page. The recipe page now seems less focused and very cluttered. Also the text throughout this site is on the smaller side so black would help a lot (or make it both black and one size bigger font!). 2. When you go to the print page for a recipe, the title and headings have always been orange which prints to a light gray (on a b&w printer)...why not just make the title black so you can see it easily on a printed page??? 3. I miss seeing who contributed the photo and the little photo gallery down to the side on a recipe page. There are lots of creative, photographer cooks here making great photos that inspire us to try a recipe and keep us coming back to the AR site! 4. Maybe AR should consider making the pages customizable per member like the MyEbay page which lets each person move boxes of information to configure what shows at the top and sides and in what order. That way, if a member doesn't use a feature, they can just move it to the bottom of the page. Along the same ebay suggestion line, if you search for recipes and click on one that is already in your recipe box, there could be a notation that the recipe "is already in your recipe box" perhaps with a direct link to our review/rating...just like how ebay has a notation that an auction is already on your watch list on MyEbay. 5. Please don't change the "Favorite Photos" (or winner photos) on the homepage. I especially like the photos for ideas rather than searching through the small text in sidebars on the homepage. I look at the "Vote for tomorrow's favorites" link for new ideas of what to make. I use and appreciate this site daily...Thank you so much.

Thanks for all the great improvements. I especially like the new shopping list feature. It makes it really easy to get what you need to try a new recipe!

In the future, when considering what changes to make, could the formatting on the RE be changed to be more like the formatting in the blogs? I, for one, would so greatly appreciate it and I think that others would too. With all the fonts the same, the font size the same, no way to underline, bold or italicize and no way to space between lines, it makes it very, very difficult to read. Please, some new formatting features on the RE. I'm getting used to the other changes and as I use these more I'll like all of them. I'm sure a great deal of thought, consideration and hard work went into what will eventually (when all the bugs are worked out) great improvements. Personally, I'm already looking for the next roll-out of better things for AR.

Elizabeth~I'm having a problem trying to recommend recipes. Nothing is updating to my recently viewed recipes. The recipes that are in my recently viewed box are from last week (I think Friday). Help please :)

I tried adding two recipes to my recipe box today but they are still not showing up.

My apologies AR. I tried adding the recipes again and it worked both times. The pages are as slow as molasses in winter loading but it probably is my computer.

I love most of the changes, except for the font color on the recipes. The grey, while readable, kind of hurts my eyes. Well, done AR.

Except for sending most of us into a panic, or at least culture shock when you changed our boxes, well done! ;)

Hi Elizabeth! I'm still having a problem with my photos. I emailed but perhaps I have the wrong email? Which email address should I use? Also, I would like to add my two cents to the plea to add the check boxes back into the recipe boxes for the folders. I accidently deleted my folders and redoing them has been a very tedious process which is nowhere near finished!

Hello, I can't seem to find a way to add a personal note anymore. What happened to that basic feature? Thanks for any input.

Nov. 6, 2009 7:26 am
I can't upload pictures or review recipes. Is anyone else having this problem? The system is too slow since all of these changes were made. I have no problem with the changes, but the slowness, non-response from the website is frustrating me. What's up?

Again with the required fields ... they are driving me bonkers and I can't cope. At the least, they could be required for public recipes but they should be optional with private recipes. I imagine you all want these required fields for standardization purposes, but how is one to populate these fields for dozens of recipes of unknown origin? We're supposed to remember all this info and make up some quaint story for the recipe description? Ugh. I'm sure many of us have many private recipes that we've never even made yet. How in the world would we accurately determine servings or prep time or whatever? And many people, I'm sure, find recipes elsewhere and input them here so they will be a part of their library. Though many recipes have servings and prep time and all, many don't, particularly those found on personal pages or blogs. And again, I'm pretty much barred from editing old recipes (and I often find errors that need to be fixed) because all of a sudden, I'm required to enter all this information (servings, prep time, cook time, description) that I do not have and do not want to make up. Please nix the required fields ... at the least, for personal recipes.

Nov. 14, 2009 5:13 am
Pomplemousse - they must be backlogged with emails. It took them 2 weeks to answer one I sent. Then they said there was no problem, but I'm still having the same issue. :(

Nov. 14, 2009 5:16 am
While it is nice to be able to add pictures to recipes, I'd like to be able to print my personal recipes with those pictures, but that's not an option. That stinks, as it takes AR years to even look at most recipes, so we have little hope of being able to see them published. If I take the time to submit pictures, shouldn't I be able to print my recipe with that picture (or someone else for that matter)?

About Me
Allrecipes.com is the world’s largest food site created entirely from contributions from talented home cooks. Allrecipes was first introduced in 1997 by five college students who loved cookies and had the early vision the web would be a fantastic place for people to find and share everyday food ideas. Twelve years later, Allrecipes.com is home to an amazing community where millions of recipes, reviews, ratings, photos, and blog postings spanning all types of ingredients, dish types, occasions and cooking styles are viewed and shared daily. Allrecipes grows every day as the community continues to share new ideas and experiences. Along with the original site, Allrecipes now has communities for home cooks in Australia/NZ, China, France, Germany, and the UK/Ireland. (Check them out! You’ll find links at the very bottom of this page.) For cooks on the go, Allrecipes is available free on the iPhone via the Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner app, and web enabled phones at m.allrecipes.com.
My favorite things to cook
Everything and anything! Allrecipes community is an amazing resource for discovering all types of dishes and treats
My favorite family cooking traditions
All of them! How could anyone choose? All year long our community is cooking and celebrating seasonal holidays and special family occasions. Even the dinners we all have to get on the table every night can be a cherished tradition—or will seem so once the kids are grown.
My cooking triumphs
The millions of recipe choices, the tips and advice, the support and encouragement to try new things or rediscover old favorites make using this site a constant joy.
My cooking tragedies
Who doesn’t have these? Too many to tell really, but from each disaster there’s something to learn and laugh about. Cooking is meant to be an adventure!
