I consider myself fairly seasoned when it comes to cooking - I come from a home where every single night a well-balanced, home cooked meal was on the table and I am trying to recreate this in my own home. I've learned lots of tips and tricks from my mom and I love trying out new recipes and making my own mods to recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love making homemade pasta sauce and roasted potatoes (which I recently learned how to do). I absolutely LOVE to bake and do so at least once a month for family occasions.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest cooking triumph was a recipe I found on food network by Paula Deen for a fresh fruit tart (be sure to check it out!). Not only does it look fantastic when you bring it to a party, but its a snap to put together!
My cooking tragedies
I've definitely learned to be wary of recipes that come from brand-name food websites. I made a chicken dish that had cream cheese in it and in the end it was like baked chicken with cream cheese flavored glue on top. No one felt good after that meal!
I also tried to make a Martha Stewart recipe for a white cake with lemon curd filling... the cake was good, but once I put the filling in the middle (after piping icing around the layer to keep it in), the filling just oozed out the sides of the cake once the second layer went on top.
