I am so happy to share that after owning my KA mixer for 7 endearing months, I have finally decided on a name for him.  I am naming him 'Dexter' after my favorite TV show.  And I believe it is fitting, since he chops, slices, grinds, and beats anything that is deserving of his… MORE

I don't even like football, and I'm sorry to admit that I'm not even sure what they are doing as they run around and pile up on each other for that ball.  The lines on the field mean nothing to me.  But I was still excited for Superbowl Sunday!  What better reason to cook for the… MORE

I've been thinking about that part in your profile on allrecipes where it asks about your cooking tragedies.  I always draw a blank when I look at it. Its not that I haven't had my fair share of failures.  Just yesterday I had 4 loaves of sourdough bread turn out to look more like… MORE

About Me
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes and often buy things that are new to me just so I can experiment with them. I love allrecipes.com because it allows me to put in almost any ingredient I have and find a way to prepare it. The user reviews are also incredibly helpful.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I was raised on good 'from scratch' cooking. My mother often made homemade pies, chicken noodle soup, and also a lot of German/Scandinavian foods.
My cooking tragedies
Cooking with an old hotplate in my in laws basement when we were young and didn't have our own place yet. It electrocuted us constantly so we needed to wear tennis shoes and a wooden spoon!
