Slow Cooker French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2013
Made as suggested, I think cooking/carmelizing the onions before putting into the crock pot is worth the time. I used low sodium beef broth- I ended up putting both box fulls into the pot, probably was more like 8 cups instead of 7 cups recipe states. I did get the "fancy" cheeses and pre-broiled the french bread slices before placing into the soup bowls. Will be making this at least once a month during the fall/winter months. Yummo!

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2013
Unbelievably Great! We danced around the oven huffing the yummy smells while it baked. I only used 2 TA butter to cook the onions, and garlic. I threw fresh mushrooms on the pile once the onions had cooked about 6 minutes. I pre-cooked my pie shell for 7 minutes as others had recommended to keep the crust from getting too soggy. I used plain feta (all I had on hand) and added a dash of dried rosemary, basil and oregano to the skillet. I ended up using colby-jack in place of the suggested cheddar (again, it was all I had in the fridge), 4 eggs and 3/4 cup of half n half (same fridge related story)..used up 95 percent of the egg/half n half mixture. I had a frozen pie shell, not deep dish. For selfish reasons I am writing this detailed review down so I can make this exacatly again. Wow, wow, wow... this recipe is so good.

Super Summer Salsa

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
Made this for book group last night! A complete hit. Only change I made was halved the sugar amount. I used one can white sweet corn and another can sweet yellow corn. Served with lime tortilla chips. Caution: Make sure you use rice wine vinegar- not just rice vinegar. Will make this again!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2013
I did what Krista- the most helpful reviewer for this recipe per Allrecipes. Added 2 cans of veg-all vegetables, covered the frozen chicken breasts with chicken broth- not water, added pepper, cumin, poultry seasoning and parsley. Used only 1 can of biscuits, cut each biscuit into 1/8 pieces- placed these on top about 1 hour before serving..Cooked this on low all day and then raised to high when I added the biscuits. It was very good. Definitely will add to my fall/winter cooking rotation. Thanks

Fabulous Wet Burritos

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
Husband says these are his favorite.. Used can of Rotel instead to tomato soup...put a tiny bit of shredded cheese on tortillas before putting meat mixture on. Placed in glass baking pan, pour sauce over- a bit of cheese and baked at 350 for 30 min..will look for low sodium ingriendents for the next time...btw- this was super reheated for leftovers.

Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
Doubled the recipe for a 2 qrt machine. Used whipping cream instead of milk, only because it has a longer shelf life than milk, and only 1 teaspoon vanilla. I froze my peanut butter cups so they were easy to chop before adding the pieces the ice cream the last 5 minutes in the machine. Highly reccomend this recipe.

Almond Poppy Tea Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
i love almond, so these are delicious. the trick is to set your almond slivers together very tight, as the cookie expands as it bakes. i am still working on the technique..more work than i expected but worth it. made the recipe exactly as described.

Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
taste similar to girl scout thin mints...are very pretty and would look great on Christmas cookie platter with other cookies... weirdly had a hard time finding andes mint chips and mint flavoring...found at a super walmart...the local publix, krogers and little walmart didn't have.. I think the andes mints and chocolate chunks make the cookies special...

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
wonderful salad...made everything exactly except cut sugar down to 1/4 cup per other suggestions...I cut the apple and pear up right before serving...the next day they were still fresh looking and had not turned brown... I kept dressing on the side so each person could add the amount they wanted..delish!

Spicy Lime Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
This is awesome! I only used 1 1/2 TA of the cajun seasoning and it came out with the perfect kick. Served over garlic rice. Marinated for about 4 hours. Husband who isn't the biggest shrimp eater loved this. Will be making this a lot through out the summer. Thanks for the recipe

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
Like mentioned in earlier reviews, I add 1 can of cream of chicken soup as well as 1 clove crushed garlic to the soup. The 2 times I have made this, I used the meat from a rotisserie chicken and frozen noodles from the freezer section of the grocery store. It makes the whole house smell cozy when this is cooking. This will be a regular dinner at our house in the winter months.
