Cindy's Awesome Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2014
This recipe was ok, but not awesome. I used other reviews suggestions and added two bottles of clam juice instead of water for more clam taste, which was a great suggestion, but the leek soup mix still overpowered the recipe and made it taste like a artificially flavored prepared food, not even close to a homemade taste for all the extra work, instead of just opening a can. In addition there was not enough clams in this soup. Next time I would add fresh onion, four cans of clams and celery, and omit the leek soup.

Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is a really light fragile chocolate chip cookie. It is good but not what I was looking for but it was worth the try.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
Very good. The only thing I added was 1/8 cup of egg beaters in addition to the one egg to try and counter the crumbliness that others complained of. It was still crumbly when I cut it warm, but once cooled it stayed solid. I made this with waistline friendly chili and they were both great and even better together. Thanks for the recipe!

Waistline-Friendly Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
This chili was flavorful and easy to make. I cut the red pepper flakes to 1/2 of a tablespoon instead of the tablespoon that was called for and I'd say it was "medium hot". I also used Sweet Baby Ray Honey BBQ sauce and added a half teaspoon of chipotle chili powder since I didn't have chipotle BBQ sauce, and omitted the cilantro since I didn't have that as well. I simmered it covered for two and a half hours and it was just the right consistency for me. Not soupy at all but nice and thick. I also made the recipe from this site for Golden Sweet Cornbread to go with it and it was very good tool. Thanks for the recipe!

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2012
This is a good recipe, with simple on hand ingredients. I doubled the recipe since I had four bananas to put to good use (btw four medium bananas gave me two cups which worked perfectly). The only thing I did differently to alter the taste was was add about a 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts since we like banana nut bread, and I baked it in a 9x13" pan for 43 minutes at 350 degrees because I didn't want to bother with the tins. Moist and hearty but not grainy like I expected (good thing with a teenager in the house). I would make again, thanks for sharing!

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I didn't care for the flavor of this. I think it's the ketchup that I don't like but I can't pin point it. It was easy to make but will not make again. I believe there are better recipes for shrimp.

Sweet Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2012
I modified this recipe by cutting back on the sugar to 3/4 c since some thought it was too sweet and tasted like cake. Next time I will not cut back on sugar and use equal parts of flour and corn meal since I believe the cake taste is due to too much flour and not enough cornmeal.

Penne with Chicken and Pesto

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2012
I made this exactly as the recipe states but I took the complaints of others into account. Instead of doubling the sauce I made 1/2 more, and cut the penne down by removing one cup from the 16oz box. I don't feel I had too much of one or the other and had enough sauce to soak up with a nice crusty bread. The flavor was good, but I wish I would have thickened the sauce with maybe more cheese. It was a little thin. Would make again though. When someone says not enough sauce I believe them. A big Italian chain restaurant never gives enough sauce so I don't go there. Who wants dry pasta...

BREAKSTONE'S Creamy Layered Enchilada Bake

I have tried other Mexican type casseroles but this is the best one yet. I made it exactly as directed and it turned out great. Am thinking about making this for next pot luck dinner for something different.

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2011
This cheese ball recipe is very easy to make and tastes great! I gave 6 away as gifts last year for Christmas and every one loved them. I am making some right now for my family, it's become a nice tradition and it is just as good or better than Hickory Farms cheese balls.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
My family loves this recipe! I don't like to rate a recipe when I change it but I thought it may be helpful to mention that I used 2 1/2 cups of frozen soup veggies in place of the carrots, peas, and celery since I always have them on hand and it still turned out great. Thanks Robbie!

Traditional Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
This recipe was quick and easy. I made this w/o mushrooms since my family doesn't like them, but I had to add a little brown sugar to the sauce to tame the worchesire. I will probably make them again, but with four patties so their not so thick. Thanks!

Uncle Josh's Famous Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2002
I am so sorry but this recipie is really bad. Imagine all the cumin and tyme for only four cooked cups rice, then imagine six bland chicken breasts baked on top. Thats exactly what is is and what it tastes like! It was really strong rice with bland chicken. I decided to make this because it seemed a lot healthier than other chicken and rice dishes, but I was so disappointed. To make matters worse I had a friend over to eat that night, and when I offered to put frozen pizza in for her instead she accepted!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

I thought this sounded a little sweet too so we cut the brown sugar in half. My five year old loved it and I plan on making it a lot. Thank you.
