, I was hoping the longer it cooked, the better it would become. Actually, it got worse.

Yum! This turned out to be exactly what I wanted and expected. It is very rich but so worth it!

Squash Braid

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2010
This is a light bread, it's not too dense and yucky. I bought squash to use but by the time I was ready to make this it had gone bad. I improvised and used sweet potatoes instead. The bread was beautiful (I made it into a wreath shape) and very delicious!

Octoberfest German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
This recipe is very good and authentic! A couple hints though...German potato salad is supposed to be a little tangy, so just be cognizant that it won't be sweet. Use good mayo, cheap stuff can really ruin a good recipe! Lastly, I let mine sit for two days in the fridge (I made it ahead of time for a party)...the flavor just got better everyday, let yours sit for at least a day, it makes a huge difference.

Cheese Dip with Beer

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
Beer and Cheese....can you go wrong??? Wonderful, this needs to be kept in a heating dish, I used a small crock pot to keep it fluid, otherwise it gets rather hard, pretty fast. This recipe was delicious, I used a hearty beer and the flavor really came through. If you don't like a strong beer flavor I would choose a light beer or an ice brew. YUMMMM

German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
wow! This is really a good recipe. When I was making this I was skeptical about how this was going to turn out. I liked the apple flavor, I used sweet apples, which wasn't a problem. The only thing with using soft apples is that they dissolve easily, so maybe add more if you decide to do that. Also, it smells really vinegary when it's cooking, but don't worry the sugar cuts it pleanty. I added cinnamon and a little brown sugar at the end for my own taste. Be cognizant that German food is a little tangy so don't go overboard on the sugar and spices, let the cabbage speak for itself! Great!!!

Perfectly fun treat!! Everyone loves this, it's a classic. I sometimes use vanilla cookies and vanilla pudding to make "sand cake". Throw in a cute drink umbrella and you have a sweet little beach treat.

Good flavor, but it was kind of bland. I added more marshmallows because they are my favorite. It was good, but not great.

Monkey Bread V

For those with a sweet tooth, this yummy bread hits the spot. I would recommend cutting down on the sugar. I often use brown sugar instead of the white. I have found that if you use the regular amount of sugar, it is too sweet for people, even little kids. Less is more here.

German Leek and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
Not what I had expected...but it was suprisingly good. I tripled the recipe to serve at my Oktoberfest this weekend. The ham bone added excellent flavor, and smelled really good while simmering. The only downfall was the soup smelled more flavorful than it actually was. I added a bit of chicken stock and used more leeks. In the end with a few touch-ups this soup turned out really well.

German Chocolate Birthday Cake

Light, fluffy, sinfully delicious. The cake was incredible and the frosting was even better. I followed the directions as is, I recommend doing this because there is nothing wrong with it. The cake comes out perfectly. I am going to make this again for sure, but I think I am going to try a layer cake next time. Warning** only make this if you don't mind hearing compliment after compliment after compliment!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Perfect Perfect Perfect. I took everyone's advice and used chicken broth, I also added fresh radishes from my garden. I used my own no-fail pie crust recipe (sorry thats secret) instead but this was the best pot-pie I have ever had! Everyone loved this, I would recommend taking everyone's advice about the chicken broth and pre-baking the bottom crust, its just delicious!!!

Cheesy Beer and Spinach Dip

Hit the spot for sure! I made this for a football game last year and it was devoured before the second half. I am going to make this again for my Oktoberfest next week. I make my own pita chips for it also. Just slice up some pita bread and toast it up, it's really easy and good.

Torture...I am on a diet so I couldn't actually eat any of these but I hear they were awesome. I doubled the recipe, and used reduced sugar peanut butter, it worked perfectly. I teach confirmation on Sunday's and my kids couldn't get enough of them this morning!!!

Good, I didn't sweeten the whipped cream. I think this made it a little bit more refreshing. It was sweet enough without the added sugar.

Tastes really really good. I added a little bit of cloves and cinnamon into the sugar mixture. The only downfall was that it came out a little soupy..well a lot soupy. Maybe I did something wrong, but I think I will try it again.

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
Amazing!!!!!! This was by far the best cheesecake I have ever had. It turned out wonderfully as is. I didn't change or alter the recipe at all. I would recommend this recipe to anyone. Also, it seemed a lot of people had trouble with the raspberry sauce, but if you cook it long enough it will become thinner and easier to strain.
