I did this recipe to the letter and despite the only liquid being butter and egg, it was perfect - made incredibly soft, chewy, perfect-to-the-modern palate gingerbread sugar cookies. There are extra little bits of dry dough crumbles on the bottom if you don't mix it well. But the recipe is perfect as is. The finished cookies still have a bite and kick, but much milder (and tastier, I think!) than your true old style gingerbread cookie. This only made two dozen men for me so I'd double the recipe if you want to make enough for a holiday cookie exchange. Incredibly chewy, soft, amazing recipe. Highly recommended!
