Southern Grilled Barbecued Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2013
Great cooking method! I baked in the oven a total of about 2 1/2 hours before grilling. We have a smoker, and we have made ribs by smoking for hours and hours (8-12). These ribs were far better than on the smoker.

Sesame Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
I substituted 2 T fish sauce + 2 T water for the soy sauce. Then before I cooked the meat, I strained the liquid off it, added a couble tablespoons of cornstarch, and then cooked in a pan with hot oil. This helped the meat get a little crispy on the edges instead of steaming. Then the reserved liquid I cooked with extra veggies, and I mixed it all together and sered it over rice.

Peanut-Tamarind Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
Flavors didn't seem to meld well--I don't think the tamarind goes well with peanut. It was heavy, which is uncharacteristic of all other good Thai food we have had. I won't make this again.

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
Doubled the topping, mixed wet & dry ingredients separately first, then mixed together with a light hand like you would do for muffins. Also subbed a small amt of whole wheat flour for the white. Tasty!

Everyone else loved this and exclaimed over how good it was. For me it was too much custard, but the flavor was great.

Feta and Olive Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
These were great! We also used Kalamata olives instead, and subbed a variety of dried herbs in place of the fresh parsley. We served these with Molly's Mouthwatering Tzatziki--a perfect combo.

Peach Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Set up perfectly (I turned off the oven and left it in to cool). I just followed the recipe--no cinnamon or anything. I think next time I'd add a dash of ginger & nutmeg or something to awaken the flavor a bit. Very good though!

I followed the recipe, but instead of raisins I added chopped dried cherries, 1 t almond extract (in addition to the vanilla), and 3/4 c slivered almonds. Fabulous!

I added 1-2 T Triple Sec to the cake batter--my secret ingredient that makes this cake stand above the rest!

South Texas Carne Guisada

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
I increased the paprika to 1 Tbsp, cut the powdered garlic to 2 tsp, added one yellow bell pepper, and DID use flour to thicken at the end. I also added a handful of fresh cilantro at the end. Served over rice with cheese, sour cream, and cayenne.

Jamaican Jerked Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
I don't know what authentic jerk chicken is supposed to taste like, but the spices way overpower the citrus taste. I was hoping for more citrusy taste.
