Well, my mother never let me in the kitchen as a child and my father just deep-fried everything, so I didn't get a lot of hands-on experience in the kitchen growing up. Since college, I have been cooking for myself and for my husband, and I'm always excited to try new recipes. I'm not the best cook, but mostly I just love being in the kitchen and making good food with my own two hands!
My favorite things to cook
Pizza, stir-fry dishes, breads, and cookies. Since moving to Korea, I've learned a little more about cooking Asian food as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade pizza and movies!
My cooking triumphs
Everyone loves my banana nut bread and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I'm a pretty good baker, though I prefer the excitement of cooking things with lots of veggies.
My cooking tragedies
My two biggest cooking tragedies are both due to undercooked poultry. One time I was making Cashew! God Bless You! Chicken (R. Ray recipe) and didn't cook the chicken all the way through. Hubby and I were sick for two days! The other time was our first Thanksgiving together and the bird still wasn't cooked after eight hours...I have no idea what happened! I cooked another bird for Thanksgiving this year and it turned out great, but I'll never forget that first one. :)
