I'd like to think I'm a pretty adventurous cook. I like to try new things all the time. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes... not so much. Still, I enjoy experimenting with new flavors and recipes.
I would say that I love baking more than anything, but that’s not true. Over the years, I’ve found a budding passion for “hot foods” (as my sister would call it). I used to be all about ramen and pasta roni, but I’ve come to really love making food from scratch. Even when it means I’m cooking for another half hour (or more). More than anything, I love making good food for people I love.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies, mini cupcakes, bread, pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, marinara sauce, steak, baked potatoes, casseroles, fresh veggies, and many others I'm surely forgeting
My favorite family cooking traditions
Marinara sauce slow cooked all day in a crock pot. I loved coming home and getting to taste test the sauce.
Pasty: Meat and Potato Pie.
Holiday cookie baking, typically an all day affair.
My cooking triumphs
Cannolis (including the shells).
From-scratch eclairs (when I was a teenager).
Cake balls (seriously, people just love these and they are so easy).
Making pasty just like my mom used to make :)
My cooking tragedies
Overcooked lobster tails.
Oatmeal cookies without enough oatmeal. They spread out wafer thin and then stuck to the pans. I ended up rolling them into balls. People loved them anyways, but it bothered me.
