Buttermilk Hush Puppies

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2014
I'm a Northern girl who moved to Louisiana. I've had some good hush puppies down here but this recipe is fan-freaking-tastic. My husband gobbles them right up. These aren't quite as dense as the ones I've had at some local restaurants but I love that. I do decrease the sugar to a tablespoon and add some sweet frozen corn. These are to die for. One of my favorite finds on this site. Thank you!

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2013
I followed this recipe exactly. They came out perfect (I posted a picture of them)! They didn't spread, were chewy and delicious. They are not super peanut buttery, but I liked that. They are loaded with chocolate chips which I also liked. My oven took exactly 12 minutes, the bottoms were just slightly brown when I pulled them out. I will make these again, and again, and again!!! Thank you so much for posting this recipe.

Tex-Mex Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
I had made my own stock from the leftover turkey bones. That was really the only thing I changed. This had some really good flavor. I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the water/chicken bouillan combo...I've used it before and I prefer a homemade stock.

Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2011
The cherrys are amazing! I loved them. I had to add a little more sugar to the whipped cream, just do to personal preference. The cake however, was terrible. I only baked it 25 minutes at 350 and it was so dry. I usually add sour cream to any cake I bake but not this time. Big mistake! A boxed cake would have been better than this one...and I may actually use that in place next time.

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
Very very sweet and that was after decreasing the brown sugar almost by half. The other flavors were nice, but I will decrease the brown sugar even more next time and maybe add some red pepper flakes for contrast.

Orange Chiffon Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
I liked it. Nice and fluffy and moist. I followed the recipes and didn't make any changes. I prefer a nice regular angel food cake to this though.

Strawberry Sauza®-Rita

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2010
Very, very yummy. We use Strawberry Puree mix in place of the liqueur. We use either the Martini and Rossi Asti, Adnre's or Cooks Spumante for the champagne. **UPDATE** I gave this recipe to a friend to use for her son's wedding. She said it was very easy to increase the recipe yield and that it was a MAJOR hit! (Be careful though, you might find yourself dancing a little too enthusiastically after just a couple)

Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2010
Simply wonderful. The dough is fluffy and crisp. I have never made cobbler before and it is super easy. I did have to use frozen raspberries, but it turned out lovely. I will use this again and again! I made it per directions the first time, but I added some nutmeg and cinnamon to the berry mixture since then and like the slight spice.

Great cookies. I like my cookies puffy so I added more baking powder. I also cooked them on a preheated baking stone. Lovely taste!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
Excellent corn bread! I made it per the instructions the first time. The second time I substituted real dark NY maple syrup for half the sugar. Both of them turned out wonderful. I cooked them in preheated cast iron pans. I will be making this recipe again, and again. Thank you for posting it!

Pizza On The Grill I

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2010
Thank you for this recipe! I made the dough per instructions and it was lovely. We did use different toppings onions, peppers, tomato, hot sausage, and mushrooms. I precooked everything but the tomatoes. It tasted wonderful. We will make this again!
