About this Cook
I am a Navy wife, currently living in Okinawa Japan with my family. Other than cooking, I am a scuba diver, am working on my bachelor degree, and a mom of 2 beautiful children.
My favorite things to cook
I love making desserts. Cookies, brownies, cakes, or whatever. I am also almost ready to try candy making. Just have to build confidence a bit!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We spend a few afternoons just before Christmas making cut out cookies as a family. We get everyone involved, and always have a blast!
My cooking triumphs
The biggest triumph I have to date is the Scuba Tank cake a friend and I made for my husband. It stood almost 2 feet tall, and included 9 8" round cakes stacked on top of each other. I made the raspberry filling, and almond rum frosting myself. I was so excited when it turned out!!!
My cooking tragedies
I've ruined too many dishes to mention!!! Ha ha!!

Mom's Baking Powder Biscuits
I am not sure what I did wrong here, and I'm sure it's not the recipe, but my biscuits turned out very flat. They tasted really good though. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the biscuits rise?

Tres Leches Cake
This was an amazing cake!!! It was also very easy to make. I love baking, and my best friend suggested that I try Tres Leches cake. I will admit, I was skeptical, but tried it anyway. I am so glad I did!! My entire family loved it. I will definitely be making it again!!!

Creamy White Wine Sauce
This is a great base sauce!! I didn't use all the salt it called for because I added Parmesan cheese to the sauce. I also added oregano, about a tsp. of chopped garlic, and a can of mushrooms. I put the sauce over cheese tortellini and it was fantastic!!! Whole family loved it and I would consider making it for a dinner party! Thanks a bunch!
