Cooking in Quebec
About this Cook
I've been using recipes from this website since 2009, but never thought to use my profile to store them...until my laptop recently crashed and I lost them all! I love discovering recipes from other cultures and experimenting with spices.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta, soups, pies, cookies. I like to make up my own recipes from whatever I have on hand! I prefer to cook for others.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a long line of amazing European kitchen wizards. I grew up watching my mom at work, rolling out pie dough, pinching perogies, basting roasts and baking elaborate tortes. I also loved reading cookbooks as a child.
My cooking tragedies
It took many tries to make a proper pie crust. I've wasted tons of ingredients (shamefully) tying to crack the KFC secret.

Pizza Crust for Bread Machine
I made this recipe using all purpose flour, plus a few tablespoons of whole wheat, and my bread machine. I also added 1 tablespoon of sugar instead of a teaspoon. I have a large sized stone, not extra-large, so I had to trim the edges since I rolled all of it out very thin (and I did not divide it into two, as some suggested, which I should have done) but we enjoyed the puffed up edges anyway. I dusted my stone with cormeal as well to keep it from sticking. I baked at 475 for about 12 minutes. It came out fantastic, if you like thin crispy crust. I think it could be altered to your liking with lard and other types of flour if you want a softer crust. Before cooking I brushed the edges with olive oil and it came out golden. I absolutely love this recipe! Thank you Marian!

Quick Quiche
I changed this recipe around a bit, so I couldn't give it 5 stars because I didn't try it the original way. I made a mashed potato crust using instant potato mix brushed and baking with olive oil and then just mixed in the bacon and cheese. I will omit the butter next time so it's not as rich. I also used pancake mix in place of flour as one person in these reviews did. It rose so high! It came out fantastic!!!
