Cabbage Patch Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2014
Great recipe which I use as a base. I make it using 2 lbs fried sausage, 2 cans black beans, 1 head of cabbage, 2 green peppers, 1 large red onion, 2 cans stewed tomatoes, 1 jar of medium picante, and I add the cumin, garlic, salt and pepper as required. I omit the celery. I put all this in the crockpot for 6 hours on low. My crockpot will go to warm after the required time. This is a very hearty stew. Perfect for a cold day. Serve with bread or corn chips on top. This is a family favorite at our house.

Curried Butternut Squash and Pear Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2014
I love the taste of this but not the consistancy. I expected it to be creamier. I did in fact make some changes but only because of time limits. I put all ingredients in the crock pot on low for 5 hours. I then blended and put back in the crockpot and added half and half. In my opinion I was hoping it would have been creamier. Next time I think I will make it the same way but cut down on the chicken broth. Thanks for the recipe.

Red and Green Christmas Jalapeno Jelly

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2013
For my first time this jelly was very easy to make. I was excited to use things that I had in my garden. Also a first for me. I have made this recipe twice and the only thing I did differently the second time was I used 1 cup white wine vinegar. The first time around I used 1 cup white wine vinegar and 1/2 cup cider vinegar. In my opinion the cider vinegar is too bitter. Also I used 12 jalapenos both times. The second batch I left the seeds. Perfect take for my family. Enjoy with cream cheese and crackers. I got 12 4 oz jars and 1 nearly full 8 oz for the batch I made. Thanks for the receipes. I can't wait to share these for the holidays.

Supreme Apple Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2013
Great recipe. Of course I never really follow a recipe just use it more as a guideline. I had about 16 apples cored them (I left the skins on) and put them in the crockpot with 2 packets of apple cider mix and 1 cup of water. Turned it on low for 10 hours while I was gone for the day. Upon return they were all cooked down and smelled wonderful. I put them in our magic bullet and blended them all up until smooth. I then put them in a sauce pan on the stove and mixed in half the thawed cider , cinnamon, ginger and brown sugar. Stirred and heated until warmed and put into sterile jars. Turned out beauitfully. Thanks for the recipe.

Herbed Vinegars

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2013
I made this with purple basil. Beautiful color. All my herbs took off in my raised garden beds so I can't wait to do this with all of them to give as gifts.

Spicy Oil and Vinegar Bread Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2013
I wanted to make something where I could utilize all the herbs in my raised garden bed. So this was perfect. I used fresh rosemary, oregano, thyme and basil. This tasted and turned out perfect. I wouldn't normally put olive oil in the fridge so I left this out as well and it seems to be perfect. Thanks for sharing the recipe. For everyone that has considered using the fresh herbs I say go for it. The taste is wonderful.
