Frosted Pecan Bites

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2003
this was a great tasting recipe. i used the pecans to top an eggnog cheesecake and they worked great. the only reason i gave it 4 stars is that it is very messy and a lot of elbow grease was needed to clean my pan afterward. i will still make these again and they are quite tasty to eat alone while u are cooking the rest of dinner!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2003
this was my first year cooking xmas dinner and i always hated having dry turkey so i tried this recipe. my dad is usually in charge of taking the turkey out of the oven on xmas morning and this year was no different. the only problem is that he left it in about 4 hours too long!!! atleast now we know why our turkeys are always so dry. i'm sure this recipe would have been great so i will still give it full ratings and i will make it again only this time i will kick dad out of the kitchen!

Smushed Apples and Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2003
this is a very simple recipe that recieved rave reviews at my xmas dinner. the addition of sweet potatoes was recent at my family dinner and this year i decided to do them differently from my mom who usually leaves them plain with marshmallows on top. the apples made my kitchen smell great and they worked well with the potatoes. this was so well liked that after dinner i only had about 1/3 of my 9x13 dish left and thats with only 8 people eating. my aunt even took some home with her! this is a wonderful recipe that i will definitely make again!!

these were very simple and worked great. i used semi sweet chips to coat spoons and white chips for the drizzle and it looked great. these made simple gifts of mugs and coffee extra special.

Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2003
this was excellent!! i'm a college student and my mom has always made the same things for xmas dinner including canned cranberries so this year i took over dinner and wanted real cranberries on the table. i followed this recipe exactly using raisins as my dried fruit and it was amazing. just the smell of the kitchen after cooking this was worth it. i got rave review for my dinner and this cranberry sauce definitely was a hit. i will make this again and again in many different ways as it is very versatile as well...would be great with apples in a pie!!

Eggnog Cheesecake III

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2003
this was very good but wasn't perfect. i needed more butter to hold the crust together. i baked it as directed but after 45 minutes it was still very soft in the middle so i baked it for about 10 minutes longer, until the edges browned a bit. after cooling for about 4 hours the middle was still like pudding. i served it with whipped cream to disguise the softness and got rave reviews from my family. i served it with candied pecans also. this is a great tasting cheesecake it just needs a few improvements which is fine by me. i will definitely try this one again only i will make the day before so it has longer to set in the fridge.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2003
very good recipe but i will make it different next time by keeping the chicken and sauce separated while cooking. as prepared in recipe the flour coating end up soggy cooked in the sauce. will definitely make again.

Proper English Cottage Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2003
I make cottagesheppards pie all the time and wanted to be a little different so I tried this recipe. This was good but I had trouble getting the liquid to reduce, I will use less broth next time. My boyfriend, who is English, was not as impressed and asked that I make it the old way again. This recipe made enough that I had to use a 9x13 dish.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2003
Absolutely wonderful. This was my first time making blueberry muffins and this recipe was an excellent start. I added a bit more milk to thin the batter out a bit and about 3/4s of a cup extra blueberries and they turned out really well...full of berries just like my boyfriend and I like them. Next time I will probably make less streusel topping and will use brown sugar instead of white. Other than that this recipe can't be beat.
