Arroz Tapado (Rice-On-Top)

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
This was good but I felt the cumin was too present in the taste. This was really just arroz con picadillo with a pretty presentation. A nice spin on making this look nice though

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
Beautiful and delicious! The spinach leaves were a great touch. My only addition here was simmering the heavy cream (instead of 1/2 & 1/2) with fresh rosemary and butter before adding to my soup. It was enchanting! Next time I think I'll add more broth since my gnocchi seemed to absorb quite a bit.

World's Best Lasagna

This was amazing! Followed the instructions almost completely with the exception of subbing wine for water. Best ever! Can't wait to make another for our next dinner party!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Very tasty. I enjoyed the chicken but felt it was missing something. Maybe next time I'll add minced garlic to the butter. Overall a good recipe

Kona Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2011
This was a disaster. It looked very nice but the overall taste was unimpressive. I found the chicken was not "falling off the done" after 7 hrs of cooking. All measurements and ingredients were used according to the recipe. To make it worse this smelled repulsive the next morning!

Chicken Angelo

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
I found this chicken somewhat bland. The cream of chicken soup flavor did not infuse at all with the chicken. I coated with munster and provolone cheeses and used italian breadcrumbs. My bf loved it so I'm willing to try it again. Overall it was something new.

Sarah's Banana Bread Muffins

This was my first actual bread attempt and it came out beautiful! I was very pleased with the bread overall although it was not as moist as I expected.... Next time maybe I'll cover it.

Tilapia Scampi

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
This recipe was very nice although I kinda branched out a bit! There's nothing worse than a mono-flavor fish in my book and the lack of spices scared me. I seasoned with old bay and adobo and melted butter before baking. I did use the garlic butter to flavor the pasta tho and it was delish. i didn't have a lemon so I used an orange (juiced) and as a garnish. I also had this a bit spicier and ate that with a cinnamon alfredo to balance it off.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
This was my first apple pie from scratch. Normally I'd use a canned filling to supplement the fresh apples to give it that gooey filling. This came out pretty well. I did follow the reviews and mix the apples and sauce first and then coat the layers on top after. My bf loved it so it's a keeper! Thanks Grandma Ople!

Shrimp Alfredo Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
This was fantastic but I did tweek the recipe a bit. I seasoned and steamed the shrimp (sazon and adobe pinch of curry) while the pasta boiled and then sauteed them in a garlic butter sauce (minced garlic and melted butter). I poured in the pasta and then added about half a jar of the lite classico alfredo sauce. The mixture turned the sauce a nice yellow color and smelled fantastic! My bf cleaned his plate and asked for more!

Easy Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
Although wonderfully tender I did not like the flavor of this roast. I followed the directions but found the sauce very bland. I did season and sear the meat first as recommended but held back of the seasoning expecting the sauce to carry the flavor. Big mistake. Next time I'll add more to this mix.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
This was very good. I didn't have any hot sauce so I doubled the ginger and sauteed red pepper flakes in the oil before browning my chicken. It gave it the perfect kick! The sauce was just right and tasted wonderful over rice! I added carrots just to give some color too.

Double Cheesy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
This was verrrrrry rich! It tasted great and was a good complement to my pork chops. I had enough for two days after! Not for those with small bellies. My only change was adding a bit more seasoning to the potato layers and sprinkling with basil and parsley to top!

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

These potatoes came out just perfect! Not only were they tender and extremely flavorful, but they complimented my pork chops to the "T". This will definitely go into the side dish rotation!
