The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2011
these were awesome! made them with the 3 cups of sugar and 2 tsp of vanilla as suggested. they came out great. soft, sweet, buttery and flavorful. Most sugar cookies I have made in the past tend to be bland and taste just like flour. Will make these again! mmm...

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
the best! I don't use a lattice top though.. I like a full crust so I can have some in each bite. :o) I put down half the apples and then pour on half the syrup then the rest of the apple and the rest of the syrup. I usually save about a tablespoon or so and thin it out with a bit of water and brush on the top of the crust for a yummy glaze and top with some crystalized sugar (pretty). I let it bake till the top browns and then tent it with some foil to prevent overbrowning while it finishes baking. I've always gotten excellent comments from people! thanks!

B and L's Strawberry Smoothie

Reviewed: May 26, 2011
This is close to how I make mine. I like to use frozen strawberries. you can get bags of mixed peices for a lot cheaper than fresh strawberries. they are still available in the winter and they still tatste great. plus added bonus you dont have to add the ice and risk watering down your smoothie!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
Wonderful basic recipe! I have made this numerous times both plain and with some add-ins. you can easily add things like bananas, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries... I have also made it by adding a half cup of applesauce (decrease milk to 1/2 cup and add some extra flour) also added some cinnamon. they were wonderful! the applesauce makes them extra moist which is why you need the extra flour or they end up kinda flat. but sooo tasty! thanks for the recipe.

Apple Fritters I

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
These were good. I didnt follow the recipe completely though. I ended up grating the apple and mixing it into the batter. I dropped by spoonfuls into the oil. I think that grating the apple made the batter too moist b/c the fritters were a little soggy on the inside. I might cut back on the liquid next time. wonderful flavor though!

Meringue Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
These were delicious. I love meringue cookies. I did omit the chocolate chips as I like my cookies plain. They were light and crisp on the outside and soft inside and melted in your mouth. I have added a very small amount of peppermint extract in the past... also delicious (would be great with the chocolate chips)

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Awesome base recipe! I made a few changes based on others comments. I changed the sugar to 2 heaping TBSP of Honey, used a package of regular yeast, changed the vegetable oil to olive oil, used 2 1/2 cups of bread flour and 1/2 cup wheat flour and a rounded tsp of salt. I made the dough in my bread machine and then put in a bread pan and allowed it to rise an additional 30-40 mins. split the top and and brushed with melted butter. Baked at 350 degrees for 30-40 mins till golden brown. (Tip: place dish of boiling water in bottom of oven. makes for great crust) soo good! thanks! Recipes do not get a hand written card in my recipe box unless they are keepers and this one is already in there!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
mmmm.... this was yummy. I was craving something with potatoes but I wanted something other than the basic mashed or baked. I used 5 slices of bacon instead of the ham. I first diced it up and cooked it until crispy and then thinly sliced the onion and added it to the bacon and cooked the onion till soft and translucent. Then I added the potatoes (peels on). I used celery seed instead of celery since I didnt have celery on hand and chicken broth in place of the water and bouillon. It came out great! Almost like a baked potato soup. Would have been great with some shredded cheese and sour cream on top!! (didnt have those on hand unfortunately.. but it doesnt need it)
