Amish Friendship Bread Starter

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
The chain letter of baked-goods. The end result is yummy, but it's a pain to get it there. Living in a small town, you run out of people to give it to. Is there a quicker way of getting the bread without having to annoy any more families?

Spiced Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
OMG absolutely delicious! I followed the recipe directions, but used all brown sugar since I was out of white AND I added a tiny bit of oil (so small, that I didn't even measure it, probably about a tablespoon). The mixture had just seemed too thick, but the two loaves came out perfect. They ended up baking more like 60 minutes. After the first 45 minutes, I lowered the oven temp since I was worried that the edges were getting too brown. The first loaf was completely gone in no time. Will definitely use this recipe again. Loved that it was not so "plain" as traditional banana bread recipes. Thanks.

Sunny's Creamy Chicken Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
This was just ok. Made it as per the recipe but when I tried the sauce, it was just to bland and runny. Put it back onto the stove, added spices and cooked a bit more. I did use chicken and it left the breast very tender and moist, so that's a plus. Since the sauce was to thin for me, I mixed it into brown rice. It was good this way. Adding some hot sauce made it better. Thanks. Will use the recipe again, but with some changes.

Lemon Bars I

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
I didn't like these at all. No lemon flavor even after adding extra lemon juice. There also wasn't enough filling for thiis. I doubled the recipe for a bigger pan, and didn't have enough filling to spread over the entire crust. 20 minutes is also too long for the crust and mine ended up overcooked. I'm embarrassed to take these to work.

Pumpkin Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2011
Shame but I did not like these. The chocolate was to thick and not spreadable at all. The pumpkin mixture was runny and didn't set well even after baking the full time. It turned out to be clumps of hard chocolate mixture in too soft pumpkin. Also, the pumpkin had too much of something, either cloves or nutmeg...it was all I could taste really. Will not ,make again.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
First batch spread WAY to much. After refrigerating they were ok, but not the best I've tasted. Another recipe I've tried has butter and shortening,, I prefer that one.

Crisp Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
I don't know what I did wrong. I followed the recipe exactly but they came out nothing like the picture. They were just a ball of hard oats. Mine didn't spread at all. They were crumbly, dry and bland.

Almond Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2011
I've had this recipe in my box for ages, so I finally decided to make them. These were pretty good, a little too sweet for me but they were enjoyed. I used a 7.1 oz package of almond paste and grated it into the mixture. I also used 1/4 cup of shortening and the rest butter. Great almond flavor. About 9 minutes for me.

Gluten-Free Fudge Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2011
Had no chocolate chips, so was glad to find this recipe that used cocoa instead. These were super dry! They also baked faster than the time shown on the recipe. Really disappointed with the outcome. Will stick to my usual GF brownie recipe.

Eggnog Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
I was so disappointed with this recipe. Followed the recipe to a T. The cake was just ok. Tasted like regular boxed mix to me. The filling was not spreadable at all and the icing was beyond sweet. Add super sweet icing on top of a bland cake with thick looking filling and you get something that just isn't eatable. Maybe a kid with a sweet tooth will like this, but it won't be on my table again. Sorry.

It was runny. Had to lower the temperature so it wouldn't burn. Taste ok though.

These were just all right. I've tried so many chocolate chip cookie recipes on this site, but have yet to find one that I love. Thanks.

Thai Coconut and Cocoa Macaroons

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
Mine came out nothing like the picture...needed more coconut? They were really sweet and flat. Looked more like cocoa cookies than macaroons. The taste was good, I just wish they looked like the picture.

Italian Chicken Sausage Risotto

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
Don't know if I changed it too much. Ehh who am i kidding? I think mine was just based on the idea LOL. I love my risotto creamy, so I cut down the rice to one cup and 6 cups of broth. I didn't use white wine but am sure it would've been been better if I did. I also added spinach for extra veggies. I loved it.

Lemon Bars II

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
Ok so I think I flubbed this one up somehow. I made 1 1/2 times the filling and added lemon zest. I thought these were way to sweet and the whites just poofed up too much. After baking and refrigerating, the filling still seemed too gooey. Don't know if it was my fault with the extra filling or if I should've added even more time to the baking. (and I added quite a bit.). Overall taste was alright for those who have a sweetooth...less sugar for me next time.

Frozen Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
I made a small change to these..instead of 1 1/2 brown sugar, I used 1 cup of brown and 1/2 white. I lowered the butter to 1 1/2 sticks instead of 2. They are great dipped in chocolate.

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
It's almost the end of the month and i couldn't afford go to the store, so I decided to make this since I had everything. I almost cried when I tasted this. I should've know it wouldn't be to my liking when I got a look at the soup/salsa mixture...the color did not look good, but I thought the cooking would make it fine. When it came out of the oven it looked great, but the tasted wasn't so great. The rice from the bottom of the dish was crunchy from the baking and it didn't have much flavor. I'm sad because I used all my ingrediants and still have a few days until payday.

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Pretty good, but it stuck to the dish horribly even though I greased it. The pan is STILL soaking. Will make again but try egg beaters and only after I figure out how not to get it stuck.
