On my days off I love to cook for my family and challenge myself to create new recipes.
When I'm not in the kitchen, I'll be on my bike or walking/hiking somewhere when the rain stops.
My favorite things to cook
Tend to lean toward cooking more Italian or Mediterranean styled food.
When time allows I enjoy making different breads & buns. This seems to be a lost art somehow as you loose the touch of working with yeast & flour when one uses a bread machine.
I gather inspiration for recipes from favorite cook authors I read and places I visit. Got to love the sights & smells of an active open aired market or a restaurant located by the ocean!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Oh my goodness, the favorite meal around here on holidays is always that turkey dinner with all the fixings. Can you smell it?
My family dives into sweet buns or anything made with cinnamon flavours with or without icing on top.
My cooking triumphs
I guess the triumph is when it comes time to lay out all the festive food on the table during those holiday times we celebrate. That is one feast for the eyes with all the flavours to devour and the colour of the different foods. We are so lucky to have such a selection to choose from being so close to the ocean and an abundant choice of ethnic foods to select from.
My cooking tragedies
In my former days while learning to cook my brothers were always my "testers" for new recipes and sometimes I failed horribly.
My brothers are still healthy thank goodness & always look forward to a visit with us so they can get spoiled with delicious food :)
