Best Spinach Dip Ever

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2012
Delicious! Everyone loved it. Had to make another batch a week later and had to use the spring veggie soup instead and it was ok, but not amazing as with the leek soup mix. USE LEEK SOUP MIX! Used a whole package of spinach and glad I did. Added a wee bit of chopped garlic and this is a divine recipe! Thanks so much for the original recipe and thanks to all those that review and post helpful hints! I appreciate you all and your help!

Loved by all! The only thing I did differently was add a bit of onion powder, garlic salt, and a bit of white pepper. Delish! Thank you for the inspiration!

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
Delicious!! Rave reviews from all 12 hungry guests! I marinated the stew meat in merlot overnight. THIS MAKES SUCH A DIFFERENCE IN FLAVOR AND TENDERIZING! Browned the meat as instructed and threw it in the crockpot for 7 hours on low. Used fresh sauted mushrooms and added them about 40 minutes before serving. For the creamy part, I added 1/2 cream cheese and 1/2 sour cream mixed with a bit of country dijon mustard. Amazing and delicious! Thank you so much for the recipe Donna, and thank you to the raters that read many, many reviews and came up with the inspiring tips!

Famous Chicken Adobo

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2011
Yummy recipe! Used wings and bonless chicken breasts (personal preference). I used 1 cup apple cider vinegar and 2/3 cup low sodium soy sauce. LOTS of garlic - probably about 10 cloves worth, 1 tsp. of black pepper corns and about 3 bay leaves. Browned the onions and garlic in the pan then added chicken. Placed the browned chicken in my old roasting pan. Deglazed the frying pan with the vinegar, soy, and 1 cup of water. Cooked at 325* for about 2 hours (1.5 hours with the lid on, the last 30 min. w/lid off) and it was divine! Great flavor! Thanks for the inspiration angelaBBf!

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
Delicious! Only thing I did different was used Fat Free Half & half and light sour cream. Hubby loved it and I did too! I think next time I make this I'll add a bit of fresh garlic when the onions are sweating and I might cut back a wee bit on the dill, although it was not overpowering.

The Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
Excelent recipe! I didn't have red potatoes so I used the russets I had on hand. Added the olives. Used finely chopped green onions to get it past the onion haters. Everyone (all 20 people) loved the potato salad! No leftovers! Dang! Thanks for the great recipe!

Creamy Garlic-Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
Fabulous recipe! I upped the recipe to accommodate serving 25 and tweaked it slightly to what ingredients I had on hand. Used Italian 3-Cheese instead of plain Parmesean and used Mexican 4-cheese blend in place of the mozzarella cheese. Topped with the traditional french fried onion rings. There wasn't one drop of leftovers! Kids and adults alike gobbled it up! Excellent and easy recipe!

Scotch Eggs with Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
Rave of the Christmas Eve party! Delicious! The only trouble I had was getting the sausage cooked through. I think the oil was too hot and browned the bread crumbs too quickly. I ended up just browning them in the fryer to get a nice even colored coat and then I baked them at 325* in the oven for about 50 minutes. After reading quite a few recipes, I also added 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour to the sausage mixture to help the sausage adhere. Had no problems at all! Used 1/2 sage sausage and 1/2 regular pork sausage. Came out beautiful and YUMMY! Thanks for the great recipe, Karen! Merry Christmas!

Cabbage and Smoked Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
GREAT dish! My hubby loved it! The bowtie pasta is awesome in this dish! The only thing I added was 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning. I thought it would be too bland without it and it was delish! I suggest sweating the onions and garlic down and then add the sliced sausage hunks to brown them a wee bit and give some extra flavor to the cabbage when you add it. Great dish!

Mexican Rice III

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
Loved the texture and the look of the dish! Very good directions and easy to do. I was worried 2 bullion cubes would be too salty, but it was fine. I'm not really thrilled with the taste of cumin (personal taste), however the cumin wasn't overpowering. I might try another spice next time, but overall the rice is great and came out as promised! Thanks for a good recipe!

Easy Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
GREAT and simple recipe (except for all the darn peeling and coring!)!! I don't have any idea how many apples I peeled cause they were small apples from our tree. The sliced apples filled the 9x13 about 2/3 full. I added enough apple juice to just come to the top of the apples. I used a spice cake mix and tossed the apples in cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and a bit of cloves before I topped it with the crumb mixture. Baked a wee bit longer, but got rave reviews! The juice firmed up a bit and the entire house smelled divine! Thanks so much for the recipe! The only thing I'd do next time is add a wee bit of oatmeal for some crunch on the topping!
