Kiwi Jam

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2013
My jam came out perfect. It was firm and held it's shape when I scooped it out of the jar and I didn't change anything except the temp and how long you cook it. Oh and be sure you use a really firm or tart apple like a Granny Smith, which has more natural pectin. The recipe says to lower heat and "simmer"... don't do this! Heat it to a roiling boil and let it cook at that high temperature, stirring frequently until done... It was delicious!

Purple Plum Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
I'd give it maybe 3.5 if I could - this was VERY tart. (and I'm typically OK with tartness). maybe it was the type of Plums I used (I used Santa Rosa Plums). Eating it with Ice Cream helped a lot. I couldn't eat it just straight it would be too tart for me!

Plum-Apple Butter

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
I got a ton of plums from a friend who has a tree, and didn't know what to do with them all, so naturally I came here and found this recipe, which turned out to be so delicious! Tart and sweet at the same time, but not TOO tart. And it made a LOT too. I was scrambling for jars to put it all in by the end!

Seasoned Potato Fries

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2010
These fries were just the right blend of savory spice and not too 'zesty.' My husband and I probably ate more than we should have because we couldn't stop! I recommend you cook these with the skins on, they are just that much more delicious!

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2010
I rubbed the spices in pockets I made under the skin of the chicken because similar to another poster, we don't eat the skin in my family either. I also used twice the garlic, and put some crushed garlic under the skin. It was one of the best roast chickens I've ever made! I'll definitely be using this recipe again!

Golden Coconut Almond Muffins

Reviewed: May 22, 2010
I used fresh coconut instead of the packaged (shredded) kind, as well as adding fresh ginger and doubling the salt and vanilla as another reviewer had recommended. These came out moist and delicious! The fresh coconut required cooking them a bit longer (about 5 minutes) but that also might just have been my oven. Just test with a toothpick to make sure they are properly done.

Oven-Roasted Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: May 22, 2010
Made these when I had sweet potatoes lying around and didn't know what to do with them. Oh they were so savory and delicious! I had guests over that night and there was none left!

Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: May 22, 2010
Wonderfully easy with great consistency. Super rich and creamy. This frosting also does great after freezing. I had stored the left-overs in the freezer and then took them out to frost some cupcakes I'd made on the fly one weekend. The consistency was still moist and delicious.

Egg-White Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
I substituted the milk with nonfat soymilk, I had to put a dash extra in than the recipe called for because the batter was a bit on the thick side, but it turned out delicious!
