Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2013
Delicious simple recipe for a newbie to butternut squash soup! I added an 1/8 tsp cayenne, 1/8 tsp nutmeg and 1/4 tsp cinnamon based on other reviews and it added the perfect amount of spice w/o overpowering the delicious squash. I can't wait to make it again!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2013
This is the perfect cornbread recipe. It has just enough sweetness to not be overpowering, it's perfectly moist inside and the top has just the right amount of crisp crunch. It's perfect with a spicy chili or for breakfast in the morning. I will never use another cornbread recipe ever again.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2012
Hands down one of the best pies I've ever had. I took other reviewers suggestion of baking at 350 for 10 minutes and then 300 for 50 and threw in some chocolate chips but followed the recipe exactly for everything else and it came out perfect. I actually think I'll leave the chocolate out next time, it didn't add enough to the already great pie to make it worth putting them in there. I love that it doesn't use corn syrup and still had the same flavor and consistency you would expect a pecan pie to have. I will make this again and again!

Cheesy Chicken Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2012
These are awesome. I was disappointed I didn't double the recipe because 20 wasn't enough! They were so quick to make with very minimal mess and clean up, plus they are a healthier option for a hearty, comforting meal! I'll definitely be making these often!

Louisiana Sweet Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
I was a little disappointed in these. It got good reviews and I love sweet potatoes but they were pretty much flavorless. After we added maple syrup they were a little better but not worth the work. I'm undecided on whether or not I'll give them another try but most likely I'll just make regular pancakes and add some spices to the batter.

Super Lemon Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
I'm not really sure why none of the 900-some people who have saved this recipe haven't reviewed it because it is amazing! I've never made ice cream before and my mom wanted lemon ice cream for her birthday, so I researched a ton of recipes and decided this is the one I would attempt. What a great decision that was! This recipe was easy to make and tastes absolutely delicious!

Classic Spanish Sangria

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
I made this for a girls night fondue party and it was fantastic! I doubled the recipe and used Carlo Rossi Sangria wine, 2 small limes and 1 large lemon cut into thin rounds, I cut 1 orange into rounds and another I cut the orange wedges into bite size pieces, I cut up 2 apples into bite size pieces and before serving I added a jar of drained and rinsed maraschino cherries. It had a wonderful sweet-citrus flavor and I will make it again and again!

White Bean Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
This chili is amazing! I would give it 5 stars but I think I modified it enough so that it wouldn't be far to give the exact recipe all 5 stars... I used 2 cups of beef broth, 2 cans of tomatoes 1 with jalapeƱos and 1 plain petite diced, and 1 tsp cayenne pepper and 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes because I like chili with a kick. I also think I'd reduce the salt next time. Overall a great recipe and I will definitely make it a lot

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2010
This is by far the best cranberry sauce I've ever had. I've played with a few different recipes but was never thrilled and this one just blew me away! (even my husband, who would only eat the canned stuff, and swore he'd never like whole berry cranberry sauce, loves it!) I let it cook a little longer than it says here, then transfered it to a bowl and mashed it a little so there would be no completely whole berries, which can be quite sour. Delicious!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2010
These cookies are delicious! They are soft and chewy, I would almost not call them a cookie, they are kind of more like a cross between the top of a cupcake and a cookie, haha! They will definitely be one of my fall cookie staples! Great w/ coffee for breakfast, the only thing I might change next time is a little more of the spices, I like a little more of a pumpkin spice flavor- nothing against the original recipe, just personal preference.
