Carne Guisada II

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
This recipe is Delish! Texas Dave (reviewer below) I don't know what you did wrong when you cooked it, but this is like Taco Cabana but better. I live in Tx too, and eat at Taco Cabana a lot.....I use lean stew meat, and I don't drain the fat after cooking meat. I think the fat adds a lot to the taste, and helps the meat get tender. I did have to add water a lot!

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I love this recipe. I used it for my Thanksgiving Turkey yesterday. It turned out great! 14lb turkey, 2 stalks of celery, lots of salt, pepper, onion powder, & margarine. Cooked for 2.5 hours @ 350 in a oven roasting bag w/1 T flour added to it (6 slits cut in top of bag). It was the best turkey I have ever made. It was JUICY!

Baked Spaghetti I

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
This is a very good recipe. My boyfriend said last night while eating "this is the way spaghetti should be cooked." I have made it several times, and last night when I went to get my M-room soup I didn't have, so I used celery. It was just as good!

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
This is a good recipe. My boyfriend said it was the best I had ever made. He did suggest putting shrimp in it. (?) I used the HEB brand of picante sauce and it turned out great. This will be my favorite spanish rice recipe.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
This is great way to make chicken. You really don't even need the butter. Just season the chicken (lots), put some chopped garlic in the beer. Bake @ 350 for 1.45. I haven't even tried it on the grill yet. But I will.

Beer Steak

Reviewed: May 23, 2004
This was OK, but it just didn't do it for me. I've lived in Tx all my life, and my Step Dad is a rancher, so we ate steaks A LOT...I think the key to a good steak is the quality of the Beef. But, I did use this recipe last night, and me and my boyfriend both ate all of our steak, so it wasn't bad! When I put the beer on, it did wash off a lot of the seasoning, so maybe that made a difference.
