Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2001
This was the best turkey I have ever made or eaten. I could not believe how moist and tender the breast was! My thanksgiving was made perfect with this delicious bird. Everyone asked how I did it, even my elderly aunt, who is the best cook ever, raved about it. I used about a stick and a half of butter under the skin. I buttered that bird good. I also rubbed the outside of the bird with butter before pouring the boullion mixture and before the seasoned salt. It was such a beautiful golden brown. I was so busy that day that I only got it basted a couple of times during cooking, but it couldn't have been any better or jucier. This was a 21 pound bird, and I cooked it for 1 hour at 375 degrees then reduced to 350 degrees for 5 more hours to reach 180 degrees. Perfect!!! Thanks a million Robin!!

Diet Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2000
If this soup was all I had to eat, then I would definitely loose a lot of weight, because I would not eat at all. Mine all went down the disposall. If you dare to try this, cut the cabbage in half, and also the green beans. There is a whole lot of room for improvement here, I'm just not sure what could be done with this mess. Sorry!!

Cranberry Gelatin Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2000
I love this salad!! I think I have made it before, but had lost the recipe. It is very rich. I mixed the pecans in instead of putting them on top. It was very quick and easy. Thanks to Laura for submitting it.

Green Punch

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2001
This had a great taste, and was a beautiful color for Christmas. I garnished with some sliced lime and marchino cheeries to make it even more festive. All the adults loved it, but the kids weren't that crazy about it.

Frozen Cranberry Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2000
This was very rich and delicious. I used pecans instead of walnuts. Next time, I may try using coolwhip in place of the whipped cream in order to lighten it up a bit. That way I can eat more.... Try this one...

Poor Mans Cake III

Reviewed: May 3, 2000
This cake is good, its taste is a lot like gingerbread, with all the spices. It is nice and moist. I added a cup of pecans, which might mean you would call it Poor Man,who owns a pecan tree,CakeIII. I love pecans in everything, and it really made this cake great! Try it with a good cup of coffee...

Apple, Cranberry, and Pear Crisp

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2001
This was really good, quick, and easy, and I used the pears from my tree. I used delicious apples, because that was all I had at the time. I must admit, however, that I did add cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg to the fruit. I also used pecans instead of walnuts. The only bad part was that I did not have any vanilla ice cream to go over this warm delicious crisp, but is disappeared anyway. Thanks for the recipe.

Texas Brazil Nut Fruitcake

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2001
I loved this cake! All those nuts is what made this sooo good, but it did take a long time to chop them all up by hand, and a long time to bake. I added some spices to mine. My grand kids didn't think much of it, but what do they know??It is a great holiday cake, and keeps forever in the ice box.

Pineapple Lemon Cake

Reviewed: May 6, 2000
This cake was not bad, but did not have the flavor that I was expecting. I shared some of the cake with an elderly friend of mine, who was polite when asked how she liked it. Sorry Kim...

Cranberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2002
These muffins were great. I used half brown sugar and half white just because I like brown sugar in everything. I made 6 giant muffins and cooked them about 40 min. I may try them without the ginger next time. Love em!

Cinnamon Chip Filled Crescents

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2002
These were absolutely delicious!! I didn't even use the glaze on top, and they were plenty good without it. Next time, though, I might try mixing in some chopped pecans along with the cinnamon chips. So quick and easy, that's the part I like most. Thanks for the recipe..

Banana Frittata

Reviewed: May 4, 2001
FRITTATA DISASTER ALERT! Try at your own risk! This was terrible. It looked like where someone had thrown up, and I suspect tasted about the same. It was impossible to turn over in one piece. Not even powdered sugar could help this mess. The proper rating would be -*****. Mine went down the disposall. Sorry!!

Brunch Cream Cheese Muffins

These muffins were really good, and easy to make. They had a great creme cheese flavor to them. P.S. You don't have to eat them for brunch, they are good anytime, and very filling.

Orange Juice Muffins with Honey Spread

Reviewed: May 5, 2000
These muffins are great!! They are so quick and easy, and ohhh , sooo good. I think I really like them better plain, without the sugar/cinnamon mixture and the honey butter spread, but they are delicious both ways. Sure made a big hit with my husband... Thanks Debbie

Lime Gelatin Salad I

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2002
This was good, but not as flavorful as it sounds. I could hardly taste the cream cheese...but you can't hardly go wrong with cranberry, cream cheese, pineapple, and nuts all in one dish.
