I'm a registered pharmacist in the State of Minnesota. I retired early due to health issues. I have no immediate family left...no parents, siblings, no children, etc so I cook mostly for friends and business associates.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake sweets, particularly those with a wow factor...beignets, blini, profiteroles, zabaglione and cheesecakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother's chicken soup was the best. I could still pick out hers from a table of similar soups because of her use of allspice. I know this is a common ingredient in Jamacian cooking,but my mother was Polish. I still try to make mine "just like Mom's"
My cooking triumphs
I make a pretty mean pie crust. It took most of my adult life to get it right. My secret...using real lard.
My cooking tragedies
I can't make a good roasted chicken. It's either raw in the middle or so dry you have to cut it with a chainsaw. I keep trying, however.
