Breadsticks

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2015
OMG! These were soooooo good and sooooo easy to make. I used a gas oven and had to bake for about 15 minutes longer @ 200 C. Very soft and very flavorful. I also had to use much more flour than called for as the dough was still gooey, I'm at sea level and it was a rainy day, so that may have had a bit to do with it. I used Johnny's Garlic Spread and Seasoning in place of the garlic salt and parm cheese.

Orange Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2015
Very nice tasting marinade. I had to sub fresh squeezed OJ for the orange marmalade as I never keep anything that sweet in the house plus most have HFCS, was thinking of adding some natural honey, but decided to skip that and as I never salt anything (I let others decide on their salt level) left both salts out as well (recipe already has garlic.) Everything else the same. I think this would be good to use as a salad dressing too. I marinated separately as suggested (veggies apart from chicken) for about two hours. Will definitely make again!

Nice recipe. I made one loaf and the rest as muffins for an easy breakfast treat.

Slow Simmer Beef Stew

Reviewed: May 8, 2015
I tossed everything into a crockpot on high for 4 hours (normally I do 8 low, but got a late start!) using my day before beef broth from another crockpot project, and let it do it's thing. I also added a can of Italian stewed tomatoes and towards the end a little tomato paste to thicken it up a bit. Definitely a 'set it and forget it' project for me!

Honey Mustard-Soy Salmon

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2015
I'm rating just the sauce as I was fresh out of salmon and used chicken instead, but the sauce is totally awesome!!! I did sub olive oil and lime juice as lemons are hard to find here and I prefer to cook with olive or avocado oil.

Zesty Spinach Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2015
I'm still going to give this 5 stars even though I did not put two teaspoons of salt in it  can't even imagine with one cup of liquid equivalent.....along with the fact that I never add salt anyway. The other changes I made I don't feel had any affect on the outcome, olive oil for canola and liquid stevia for the sugar and I cut the garlics into slices. Everything melded quite nicely and had a soft flavor.

Oven Roasted Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2015
These are wonderful with the coconut oil, adds a whole new dimension on oven roasted potatoes. I also had some fresh parsley to use, so I chopped some up and tossed around.

Beer Mustard

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2015
OMG, this is HEAVENLY! I scaled down to 1/3 and used all brown mustard seeds. I held off on adding any sugar until 3 days as I wanted to "test" the flavor first. I was contemplating some horseradish, but after tasting it, it's got enough kick without it! I ended up putting a 'dash' of stevia to soften the tartness. It's wonderful on everything! P.S. I didn't do the canning as I just had one small jar, I'm sure it will be gone in no time!

Sweet and Spicy French Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
Very nice recipe (used avocado oil). After tasting it, I also added some garlic powder and about 1/4 tsp. of habanera sauce (didn't measure, just shook bottle a couple of times) for a little added kick. Was feeling too lazy to clean another device, so opted not to blend. Poured it into an old store bought salad dressing bottle, refrigerated a few hours and the salad turned out with fantastic flavor.

Chicken Enchiladas Verdes

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2015
The salsa is wonderful and easy to make. If it's too tart (and sometimes it is) I'll add a drop of honey to the blender. I chose to roll the tortillas instead of stacking them and put some fresh cilantro on top while baking. I broil for about 2 minutes at the end to get the tortillas a little crispier rather than soggy. Don't care for the queso fresco, so left that out.

Very yummy. A little time consuming for the sauce, but worth the wait.

Sweet n' Sour Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2014
Ran out of dressing with guests on the way  and threw this together, worked great! Used a bit of Stevia instead of sugar. Put it in a store bought almost empty bottle, and everyone thought it was store bought!!!! Yikes :)

I also roast everything except for the cilantro, along with 5-6 cloves of garlic. I've never added the sugar, and haven't noticed it missing. Tastes great on anything!

Fabienne's Hasselback Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2014
These turned out well. I used a Misto can with olive oil and sprayed directly onto the potatoes. Then sprinkled the spices over them. If you lay a chop stick on both sides of the potato, they are easier to cut without cutting all the way thru accidentally.

My first attempt at making this, and it turned out LOVELY! I had some cool whip for the top, but guests were already complaining about it being too rich! That's a bad thing?????

Sharkie's Green Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2014
I kind of cut the recipe in half. I was hoping that it would look 'greener' --- but with the RO*TEL type tomatoes (I used a store brand diced tomatoes with jalapenos) it was more of a greenish yellow blah color. I didn't have any cream cheese, but don't think that would have made any difference. I used fresh garlic (1 clove) and no salt (plenty in the canned tomatoes and I was serving with salted chips). The flavor was nice. After a taste test I decided to toss some fresh cilantro in. I think next time I'll add a jalapeno (without seeds/membrane) to kick it up a bit (or a few slices of jarred jalapenos) and/or cream cheese with jalapenos.

Crazy Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2014
This was a good recipe. Easy to throw together. I used a gas oven and it took almost 20 minutes at the 400 (200C in my case)-- I cut the recipe in half and used 1/2 wheat flour (the bag was already opened and almost empty, and I wanted to use it.) I think next time I will add garlic powder and perhaps some other herb(s) into the dough, so that they won't be so bland. This recipe would also be good for turning these into hoagie sandwich rolls (obviously making them much bigger.)

Easy Barbeque Chicken and Red Potatoes

Reviewed: May 29, 2014
I just put BBQ on the chicken and arranged the vegetables around it. I cooked one bone in breast and used homemade BBQ sauce. Cooked covered in a gas oven for an hour, then allowed to set for about half hour covered, outside oven. Everything was cooked sufficiently.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: May 27, 2014
This is the second time I've made this (first time as written minus the salt), this time with a couple of changes, and it's still fabulous as the first time, thus my 5 star rating for the recipe itself. I cut the sugar in half (unpacked) and had to use red wine instead of whiskey as I didn't have any this time. I never add any additional salt, and didn't have any tomato paste. It still thickened up nicely, and I'm not going to strain it as it tastes wonderful as is.
