Bacon and Date Appetizer

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2014
Like it with dates. You can halve the dates and the bacon. Better with prunes (half prune and half a bacon strip) - don't tell and no one can guess you used prunes!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2014
Very similar to a chicken thigh recipe that is here - but uses mix of sour cream and 1/2 can soup to dip the chicken before crumbs. We like both pork and chicken thighs cooked this way. Now I'm hungry!

Gluten Free Danish

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2014
I rated it 4 star because they were tasty, but thought it was more like a shortbread cookie.

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2013
It was okay, kind of bland - probably would not make it again.

Blue Cheese Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
This was ok. I liked it, but it was kind of thick, more like a spread than a dip.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
Not good - I followed recipe but knew tenting w/ foil would produce steamed chicken, not roasted. Barbara Kafka's book on how to roast various meats and poultry is excellent.

Chewy Rolo Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
I read the reviews (too sticky, too gooey, too sweet) so I used half the # of Rolos - and I added the top batter before baking. Came out perfect (23 mins. bake time), tasted great and looked beautiful.

Graham Cracker Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
The brownies in the photo look more 'cake-like' - mine came out very gooey, and way too sweet, not like a brownie at all - we love sweets, and I never thought I'd say anything was 'too sweet' (I followed the recipe exactly as printed, used 8" pan). A recipe I had years ago made excellent graham brownies, and I had hoped this would be it!

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
I really enjoyed this - but it definitely needed more seasoning. Will make again! I used a baking dish, but should have turned them half way through baking (bottom was more moist than the topsides). The 'roasting rack' suggested here sounds like a good idea.

Gooey Brownies with Shortbread Crust

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2010
Loved this recipe - but I think using less butter (as someone suggested) would be a good idea. Also, using brown sugar for the crust sounds like it would make the crust a little sweeter (it was a bit bland). I only had Semi-sweet chips. It was still good! Thanks for the recipe.

Lasagne Verdi al Forno

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2010
I have made this lasagna for years, don't know where I got the recipe and did not know its ethnic origins - but I use regular lasagna noodles and it comes out great. I also make other 'specialty' lasagnas. When someone makes regular lasagna with tomato sauce, I pass.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole IV

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
I cook a lot of time-consuming dishes (quenelles, paella, layered dishes - that sort of thing), but I am looking for easier recipes as I get older. I typed in what I had in the ingredients box, and this recipe came up. It sounded too simple to be any good! However, my daughter (adult) and I liked it - and it was fast! For those who thought it was 'watery' - brown chicken well first, and cook and drain the broccoli first. I covered it with foil so top would not be too brown - used some French fried onions for top. I served it on thin noodles. Thanks for the help!
