Chicken Supreme III

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
I made this recipe as written, except I did substitute leeks and green onions because I had some that I needed to use. This was excellent! Even my picky husband loved it. It will definitely go into "heavy dinner rotation."

Easy Chocolate Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
Too syrupy sweet for my family. I tried it in my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker and it didn't set up -- which is my own fault. Just not the right Chocolate Ice Cream recipe for me.

Easy Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
Awesome flavor! Even my picky husband loved it. I did add some fresh sage and rosemary, just because I had some in the fridge, but it wasn't necessary and the marinade would be exellent without. This recipe is great as is, or can be a great base to experiment with different flavors and seasonings.

Heavenly Hot Dog Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2009
My family loved it! We'll definitely have this a few times on "football Sundays" this year. I did add some minced onion and garlic, just because I had some around. Great flavor and excellent consistency.

Hot Pizza Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
We absolutely loved this! It will definitely be in heavy rotation for "football Sundays" at our house! I read previous reviews that said the cream cheese part was a bit bland, and added a few shakes of Onion Salt -- really, really good! I bought a loaf of thinly sliced Italian bread and brushed it with a bit of melted butter and minced garlic, then toasted it in the oven. Excellent recipe!

Mixture for Meatballs, Meatloaf or Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
This is exactly what I've been looking for! Excellent texture and flavor. I was a little nervous with the wet-bread thing, but it was perfect. I did add a few shakes of onion salt because we're not big on onions and it was great. I made meatballs but will definitely adopt this as my long-searched-for meatloaf recipe as well. Really, really good is all I have to say!

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
Great recipe! I did add a pinch of nutmeg and a bit of cinnamon. I made mine into muffins -- half with chocolate chips and half without to make everyone happy. They were very moist and flavorful. Much better than any other recipe I've tried.

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
Turned out great! Just like classic no-bake cookies should be. I made mine extra rich because I was out of milk and had some cream left over from another recipe. Wonderful!

Halibut with Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
I made this for a special dinner for my husband along with steamed lobster tails. My husband, who is from the Pacific Northwest, said this is the best fish he has ever eaten in his life. He finished this and left some of his lobster tail on the plate when he was full. I'm not a fish lover and even I liked it.

Self-Filled Cupcakes I

Awesome! I used a moist triple fudge cake mix and cream cheese frosting. Best cupcakes ever!

Creamy Avocado-Ranch Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Really, really good! I used onion salt instead of celery salt because that's what I had. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing!

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Excellent hearty soup! I served it with a loaf of warm Italian bread and it was a deliciously filling meal. I did add more salt, black pepper and a few dashes of cayenne pepper as well and it was anything but bland. I mashed some of the potatoes and left others in bigger chunks for texture. The best potato soup I've ever made!

Quinoa Side Dish

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
I have never made or eaten quinoa before and this was really good. I did saute my onion and garlic with the quinoa in the initial step because I don't like raw onions, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Very good healthy side dish -- this will become a side dish staple for me.

Beef and Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
I gave this 4 stars because it took about 12 hours on "hi" for my lentils to become tender. I actually had to scrap this for dinner that night because it wasn't done. (Next time I will follow another reviewer's suggestion to add the tomatoes later in the process.) I saved this in the fridge for another night and the leftovers were definitely 5 stars! This is the best lentil dish I've ever made. Next time, I will either cook it on the stove, so I have more control over the heat, or I will boil my stock and water before adding it so it doesn't take so long to start cooking the lentils. The smoky flavor of the kielbasa really blends with the spices and lentils to make a delicicous stew!

Buttermilk Pralines

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
If I had known making pralines was this easy, I would have done it long ago! I substituted heavy cream for the buttermilk, just because I had some that I needed to use. These are EXACTLY like the pralines you can buy on River Street in Savannah, GA. mmmmmmm... they definitely remind me of the hospitality and charm of the South. I'm sure this batch will be long gone before I put together my Christmas goody platters, but I'll definitely make another batch or two before then.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
Awesome with the orange glaze others suggested. I think I may try to make a double recipe in a bundt cake pan for a festive holiday coffee cake to take to work.

Fudge Puddles

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
These turned out very, very well. I followed the recipe exactly and did not experience any problems with the peanut butter cups being too crumbly or hard. Mine came right out of the pan (non-stick mini-muffin pan sprayed with Pam) with no problems at all. The only problem I had was with getting the filling into the cups. I tried to use squeeze bottles, but my filling set up too much and it was kind of frustrating. Next time, I will work faster and use the baggie method so I don't have to fool around so long trying to get the filling into the bottles. These cookies are delicious -- the perfect amount of rich fudge with a just-sweet-enough soft peanut butter cookie.

Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
My German Wirehaired Pointer Cosmo loves these! He has a very sensitive stomach, so I left out the cornmeal and added a bit more oatmeal, as I think corn is part of his problem. I also think wheat germ would be a good substitution for the corn meal, but I didn't have any on hand. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly and it was very easy. I used a small gingerbread man cookie cutter and they turned out really cute! I'm going to take some to my cookie exchange party for the hostess' dogs. Next time I may try peanut butter instead of beef and cheese, but I will definitely be making them again.

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
These tasted too much like Bisquick and not so much like Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuits. The texture was too crumbly and not flaky, even though I did not over-mix. I'll keep searching for a way to make Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay biscuits.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
Beautiful frosting for sugar cookies! Once you figure out the right consistency, it goes on easily and dries to a bright, shiny finish. Use a few teaspoons of milk to thin the frosting until it is the consistency you like. I will definitely be making cut-out sugar cookies more often now, since the finished product looks bakery perfect!
