About this Cook
I grew up in WA and after being married to the USAF for 20 years my hubby & I now reside in AZ. I enjoy 5 grandangels (4g,1b) who live around the country. I love reading new recipes and trying a little spice to liven things up. We grill and eat a lot of fresh vegetables, trying to watch the calories, but there is nothing better than chocolate! I also love to take pictures of nature and all my grandangels.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making my own cassaroles, stews, or lasagna from scratch and baking almost anything. I tend to change recipes now that I have learned more of what goes together through trial and error. Rarely does anything I make go uneaten.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies and candies. We make all of our holiday goodies from scratch. Several cookies, old fashion fudge, peanut clusters, and fruit breads, to name a few.

Easy Bok Choy
This was a strech for me as I have never ventured into bok choy before. I used a nonstick pan and about a tablespoon of olive oil. Followed the suggestions cooking the white pieces with the garlic which I grated over the top, first. I also grated in a bit of fresh ginger. When they were softened I added the greens and let them steam uncovered until wilted. Stiring occasionally. I sprinkled some sea salt on when served. The results were great. Light, crunchy, quite tasty and my husband agreed. We will do this again. Thanks so much!

Fresh Grapefruit Juice Smoothie
I just made this drink in my new Vitamix with a couple of changes as I didn't want the full amount. I used 1 large peeled red grapefruit, 4 lg strawberries, 1 med banana, and 1-4 oz cup of blueberry greek style yogurt, with 4 ice cubes. It made 3 cups and I have frozen 1/2 for later. I can't wait to see how it comes out frozen... I didn't miss the honey! Next time I think I will try the honey and leave out the banana.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
After reading several of the reviews I tried this recipe. I exchanged one cup of the flour for unbleached All Natural flour and added 1 1/4 teaspoons Cinnamon. What a great surprise! Cookies were crisp and had that just right spice! I will use it again. :) Thanks
