Building Gingerbread

My daughter and I made 7 gingerbread houses from this recipe this year (we made several batches of dough ...) and we are very pleased with how they turned out. We discovered that using margarine produced a smooth finish, but when we mixed butter and margarine together in one batch the dough was a little bizarre and was full of cracks as we worked with it. We still went ahead and baked it, and the resulting house had sort of a "stone" texture, which actually turned out to be a very interesting finish. Overall this is an excellent recipe and we have 7 beautiful gingerbread houses on display this year as proof :)

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

I found these falafels easy to make, and very yummy. I pretty much followed the recipe exactly , except I used dried parsley instead of fresh, and dried chickpeas instead of canned (which I prefer, flavor-wise). I doubled the recipe for my family of 9 and we had one falafel left over -- and everyone liked them. Will definitely make again!

Health Dynamics Rye Bread

Excellent recipe, will definitely make again. I doubled the recipe, mixed it in my Bosch machine, baked it in a long rye bread loaf pan at 350 for about 50 minutes. Turned out great! Yummy and great for my wheat-allergic family :)

Old English Cream Pie Filling

Terrific recipe! Made it to eat just as pudding and it was fantastic! A little sweet for my taste but I'll just cut back the sugar next time. Texture was lovely. This one's a keeper!

Digestive Biscuits

These cookies hit the spot when I was looking for a not-too-sweet cookie to have with my tea. Yes, a trifle chewy, but good crunch too. I like 'em!!! (I used 1/2 all purpose flour, 1/2 barley flour, and they turned out great.)

Classic Bran Muffins

This is my favorite bran muffin recipe now. My only change was to add molasses because I like a darker, stronger flavor. Very yummy!
