About this Cook
I am 32, have a 9 yr old son, and just married my sweeties of 7 yrs in June 2012. We have 2 dogs, Lily and Nola, and they are spoiled rotten! Cooking is like therapy to me, I love coming home at the end of the day and cooking something w/ my son and hubby and just enjoying time with them.
My favorite things to cook
We love to grill/smoke! You name it, and we've tried grilling/smoking it. Pasta is something I have cooked since I was 12, and have mastered several recipes. Mexican, any kind of chicken, and anything I can throw in the crock pot! My newest obsession is my bread machine and I want to find more creative recipes to try it in! I love cooking at the end of the day or even throwing it all in a crockpot and just letting it do it's own thing. It's still better than going out to eat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents made me start taking care of one meal a week when I was 12. It didn't matter if it was sandwiches, soup, salad, or pasta, but I was in charge from start to finish, and because of that, and the fact that I was the only cook in the family for about 2 months when I was 13, because my mom had Mono, I have learned to really enjoy cooking. I also STILL, at 32 yrs old, LOVE to watch my Grandma cook, she teaches me something every time I am in the kitchen with her!
My cooking triumphs
Being able to impress my Grandma with my cooking is a HUGE triumph! She is amazing in the kitchen!
My cooking tragedies
A particular crock pot chicken recipe. I've never thrown food out, but when I came home and smelled that it almost made me sick...it went right down the disposal!

Asian Glazed Chicken Thighs
I didn't have rice vinegar so I used Apple Cider Vinegar instead and we all LOVED this! So good! Highly recommend!

Easy Chocolate Chip Pound Cake
I am not a big sweets eater, nor am I much of a baker, but we really liked this. I did reduce the sugar to about 1/4 cup, and the oil to about 1/3 cup, and we really liked the outcome. Not TOO sweet, but a great flavor and nice and moist. I also read in the reviews to add a couple of Tbsp flour to the cake mix since the box mixes are a little smaller these days. I've made it twice and we love it!

Aussie Chicken
This was a big hit for us. I made as directed with the one exception of the corn syrup. I didn't have any, and after reading the reviews, it seemed like it would be plenty sweet without it, and it was. The homemade honey mustard was DELICIOUS! Don't cut corners by using premade...it's very quick and easy to make, and was awesome! Will make again for sure!
