I am a 30-something stay-at-home mom at the moment. I have been cooking since I was 8 years old.
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake desserts, especially pies and crisps.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I bake mostly traditional foods. I'm Pennsylvania Dutch so I prefer foods from my natural heritage. However, I do like make Italian and Mexican foods too.
My cooking triumphs
My pies are highly rated. I make apple, peach, and blueberry pies. I make my own crust and everyone seems to really enjoy them.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't been able to make a good cheesecake for some reason; it's either undercooked or cracks from over cooking. Won't even try them anymore, ruined too many of them. (I just buy them at the store because they're one of my favorite desserts!) I can't make ice cream cake either. It never comes out right, go figure?

Texas Chocolate Frosting
This tasted really good! It was incredibly easy to make too. I added about 2 more tablespoons of milk to make it a more spreadable consistency. It wasn't too sweet and it tasted great on a yellow cake. I'll definitely use this recipe again.

Best Ever Muffins
These tasted really good. Even better the next day, (stayed moist in a container). I added 3/4 cup frozen blueberries to mine. Fabulous! These are very inexpensive and easy to make. Thanks for the recipe.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars
These were really delicious. I took other reviewers suggestions and changed some things. I used a 29 oz. can of pure pumpkin, 1/2 cup oil and 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce, 3 eggs instead of 4, I halved the baking powder and baking soda, and I also cut back on the sugar to 1-1/3 cup. I also added 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. Even though I really changed the recipe, the basic ingredients are the same. I baked it in a 9 x 13 pan for about 35 minutes. They turned out moist and bar-like. The only thing I did different for the cream cheese frosting was using 4 ounces instead of 3. It was so delicious! Probably the best cream cheese icing I've ever tasted! I would have given this recipe 5 stars but since I changed so many things it made it slightly different.
