Quinoa Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
Excellent! I didn't have apple juice, so I substituted almond milk for both the apple juice and the water, but added a chopped apple. I also didn't have raisins so I used dried cherries instead. This was DELICIOUS! Will definitely make again.

Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
These are great! I made these and the "Dog Treats I" on the same day, and my pooch greatly prefers these. They took the full amount of time to bake even though I used tiny cookie cutters, but were very easy to cut. Now that I know how easy it is to make dog treats, I'm never buying them again!

Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
These are great! They took about 30 minutes to bake using the tiny bone cookie cutters, and came out looking adorable! My dog prefers the peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats on this site, but she devours them both. I will definitely be making this recipe again and again (and again and again and again...)!

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
I didn't have any brown sugar so i left off the topping. But my goodness, this pie needs NOTHING! I used a little more spices than the average joe, but I prefer a very flavorful pie. Even my roommate, who doesn't like pumpkin loved it! It was *almost* too much for a deep-dish pie crust, and the filling's almost an inch higher than the crust but its so light and fluffy that its not overwhelming. Mine did take 20 minutes longer than the suggested 40 minutes and I did have to tent the edges with foil to keep them from burning before the middle was finished, but with results like this who could complain?

Carla's Baked Bananas

These were really really good, but I thought they were lacking a little something. Chopped nuts? Drizzled chocolate? I added rum to the sauce, and that was an excellent plan!

Microwave Pralines

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
As a Louisiana girl, I know a thing or two about pralines but couldn't resist the call of making them in the microwave. My microwave has a higher wattage than most, so it only took about 5-5 1/2 to cook. Here's the awesome part: I used brown sugar splenda and half and half instead of their full-calorie counterparts.... AMAZING!!! I'm fully prepared to run through the streets extolling the praises of these delicious babies, I'm that impressed.

Dad's Pan-Fried Green Beans

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
Fantastic! I didn't have low sodium soy sauce on hand, but will definitely get it for the next time. It was a bit on the salty side. Oh, and i didn't steam the green beans first, just threw them in the pan at the same time i put the garlic in.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

This was pretty good. I thought the texture was weird, but it had a nice cheesy flavor. Will probably make it again.

Very good! I'd never had kale before, so i looked up how to cook it on allrecipes and came across this one. Honestly, i just cooked it cause i had all the ingredients for it on hand but i'm so glad i did! Will definitely make again.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
Ok i just made this and it was way gross. I did substitute ground beef for ground turkey, but i really don't think that was the big issue. the whole thing turned out watery and mushy and generally just disgusting. i had to cook it for an extra 45 minutes, and took it out and poured out the extra juice about 1:10 min. in to baking and it was still mushy. the flavor of the loaf itself was tolerable, but i found that brown sugar-ketchup topping to be unforgivable. Will not be making this again, sadly. I was really hoping this would be a nice, standard meatloaf i could add to my repertoire.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
These were very good. I added Worcestershire sauce and a little soy sauce, but other than that I left the recipe as-is. I was pleasantly surprised, as my turkey burgers tend to turn out a little dry and not at all comparable to their beef counterparts, and are generally drowned in condiments to compensate. I topped these with sauteed mushrooms and onions and garlic mayo (olive oil mayo + garlic powder). Will definitely be making these again.

Healthy Potato Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
This was really delicious, and an excellent substitute for those high-fat potato salads (although you can never really make potato salad terribly healthy). I, like the previous reviewer can't believe that no one else has reviewed this yet! Its definitely not the traditional southern potato salad i grew up on but it has a fresh, rich taste that really hits that spot. I changed it up a little, using 1 of the yolks along with the five whites, omitted the ground mustard and added about 1 1/2 tablespoon of creole mustard, left out the celery and red pepper (i hate both of those things) and added a little dill relish, just to make it taste more traditional. I really encourage everyone else to give it a try; it's delish!

Tabbouleh III

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
This turned out very authentic. My boyfriend and I are big fans of tabbouleh (ok, we're a little obsessed with greek food in general...), and this was spot-on. Doubled the recipe, omitted the cucumbers (we've never encountered tabbouleh with cucumbers, and i'm greek) and added an additional bunch of parsley. It was actually much better the second day, too. It made a whole gallon ziploc bag's worth, so we ate it for a week. Definitely worth making again.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
These are really really good! one thing, though: if you are expecting granola bars like you buy at the grocery store, you will really want to up the fruits and nuts and cut back on the flour. It turns out a little denser than a dense cake, at least the way i did it. I followed several other reviews on here and decreased to 1/3 c. brown sugar, replaced the oil with as much applesauce, and replaced the raisins with craisins and added 1/3 c chopped almonds. I think next time i will decrease the flour and add more nuts and fruit. NOTE: Those of you wanting to substitute the oil for applesauce need to anticipate a SHORTER cook time; recipes using applesauce instead of oil bake noticeably faster, so start checking at around 20 minutes- mine took 23.

Cucumber Sandwiches III

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
I made this for a friend's bridal shower and there were NONE left over! Everyone kept raving about how good they were, especially since cucumber sandwiches are generally so bland. All in all, i'd definitely make it again.
