Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: May 19, 2010
I've tried a few SJ recipes from AR and in my opinion this is the best. Made as written but doubled, used 1/2 ketchup 1/2 tomato sauce and added worch. to make up for the lack of ketchup. BETTER THE NEXT DAY. A keeper!

Miso Soup

Reviewed: May 14, 2010
This tasted EXACTLY like our favorite Sushi restaurant's. I went to an Asian market and the manager told me to boil the dashi and water then reduce to barely simmering and add the miso then serve. She said to never boil the miso. She also said it’s OK to freeze the miso. It comes in a huge container. Very inexpensive and yummy soup!

Savory Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
Great flavor! The beans deglazed the pan and soaked up all the yummy pancetta flavors. The shallot is key. Simple but elegant. I gave it 4 stars more for the beans I had, not the recipe. I should have tried this when beans are in season. Mine were really hard and not very palatable. Will definitely try this again this summer!

Cherry Cheese Pie I

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
Fluffier than I anticipated - thought it would set up a little more but it tasted great. Thought the whole can of cherries would over power the filling but it was just right. An easy family weeknight dessert. (With requests for more for breakfast the next morning.)

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
I followed the suggestions of JBean and it turned out like sauce with bits of meat hiding in it somewhere. I liked the taste but too soupy this way. Will go back to the orig. recipe next time and just add the 1/2 packet of onion soup, a little sour cream and s&p. Simple and pretty good.

Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
I just made the make ahead turkey gravy from this site and although it was a 3 hour process to roast and simmer, it was TOTALLY worth it! So for those of you who are hosting and hate the last minute prep rush before serving on Thanksgiving day - go buy turkey legs and make this tomorrow!!!! It turns out really well. Mmmmm gravy....
