About this Cook
I'm a wife to a wonderful husband and step mother to a great daughter, and we're expecting a new addition in just a few months. Both my husband and I are in the Army NG. We both love to cook, I make dinners and my darling dear makes desserts :)
My favorite things to cook
New recipes and our older favorites. I like to cook dishes from other countries and the spicier the better :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
"Food of the World Night". My daughter stops a "Countries of the World Song" (sung by the animaniacks, lol) randomly' and whatever country it stops on she researches. She finds a few different entrees, sides, and desserts she would be interested in eating, and then I choose a meal to make out of her choices. My husband does the same with dessert (and if we find a drink he makes that as well). Then over dinner we listen to music from that country and our daughter tells us fun facts about the country she looked up. It's a great way for us to cook together and interact. Not to mention is helps our daughter with computer skills and finding out about the world at the same time.
My cooking triumphs
My "I don't know special" lol a simple rice and sausage mixture I made one time. My daughter fell in love and asked me what it was and how I came up with the idea to make it. To which I answered, "I don't know." Since then it became a family staple which I have never once heard a complaint about, even when cooked for others :)
My cooking tragedies
Almost any dessert I've attempted. I go more off of personal taste and ideas, not so much by exact time and measurements, which seems to be necessary for baking. haha thank goodness for husbands.

Pumpkin Cheesecake II
I very rarely give five stars, usually due to changing the recipe a bit here and there. Well, my husband makes this every year for Thanksgiving and it is the best! Even the crust is flavorful.

Teriyaki Sauce
This was a last minute substitute for the real thing. Although it sufficed for the night, it's not a favorite and I'll only make this again if I'm in a bind once more.

Company Couscous
We cooked this for our "Food of the World Night", my daughter randomly picks a country, researches it and tells me and my husband the facts about it over a dinner made form that country and dessert prepared by my husband from the same place. We did "Algeria" and loved this recipe. The four stars is for the fact I will change it a bit next time, by adding garlic and replacing the cherry tomatoes for diced roma. The cherry tomatoes were a bit too much of a mouth full and you didn't receive a very consist taste because of it.

Pile it into a tomato half, load it into a wrap, or spread it on bread. Chicken salad does it all.
